HDR Rokus - HDR to SDR?

I'm looking at getting one of the newer "HDR" capable Roku players. Does anyone know if, when hooked to a SDR TV, will they do the proper color conversion on their own with Emby or would I have to wait for Emby to support this feature? Thanks!

It will just work. You won't have to do anything. The app works off what the Roku reports it is capable of. The Roku itself can downscale video, color conversion, framerate correction (if you use match framerate of media in the Roku settings), etc.. There is very little you will need to do other than use the built-in Roku settings to pick the resolution you want on the TV. Then start emby and it just works.

Well, woot!  I'll have to give a new one a go.  Between the MiBoxes and a couple of older Premieres, I'm developing quite a collection. I think I'll have to eBay a few items.

Well, not so much, at least on the initial test.  The HDR colors are muted (faded?) on the SDR TV.  It looks the same as it did on my older Premiere + without HDR.  I'll try a few more things, but there aren't a ton of options.  Maybe I'll just have to continue to keep 2 versions until Emby itself can do the tone mapping as discussed in: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/55872-tone-mapping-in-transcoding-hdr-for-playback-on-sdr-screens/

Aside from that, I can't believe how tiny the new Premiere is. It also definitely seems snappier than my previous gen.
