Playback jerky with some videos

So I just was playing another set of videos and have noticed it's pretty jerky. Every few seconds it jerks, the playback isn't smooth. These are MKV files, some 8, 9, 10GB large. I've played them back over a WIFI network on another Windows laptop and they play smoothly. The Emby Theater is located on the same computer where these videos are stored. I haven't noticed this jerkiness in any other of the videos. How can this be resolved? Thanks!

UPDATE: This only happens with 4k videos, 1080p videos playback fine. I've tested playing them with Media Player Classic and the 4k videos play back without any jerkiness and are smooth, so this is a Emby Theater problem.

UPDATE#2: So this isn't happening only with 4k videos, I've just played another movie that also has this problem, and it's a different file format, a stereo AAC and it's only 1080p.

Assuming you're using desktop, what is your GPU and what settings have you configured?

It's only doing it for a few of the same string of videos that I've downloaded. It doesn't do it for anything else, no other videos. It's a quad core i5 3.2GHz CPU, 16GB RAM, using the Intel HD Graphics 530 chipset. This handles high-res and HEVC video without any issues.

I don't think I described it well, it's not jerky every second, it's a bit imperceptible, but it's very noticeable. It reminds me of when I had the old CPU and motherboard that couldn't handle HEVC video, and it looks exactly like that.

Can you share a sample?

I just noticed, these videos are 4k, the ones that play smoothly are 1080p. However, when playing with Media Player Classic, the 4k videos play back very smoothly with jerkiness at all. So this is a Emby Theater problem.

How do I do that?

Hit 'Print Screen' on your keyboard, then paste into windows paint. Save it. Crop it if you want to. Post it here.

I guess I meant how to get the "stats" while it's running?

I notice that you're downscaling to 1080, too. Try using Auto copyback, for hardware acceleration.

Where is this "Auto copyback" option?

Click the user icon in the top right corner, and go to settings. It's under video.

Ok thanks I toggled that. It was set to "CUDA".

I know this is an old topic and I hope this isn't going against any rules but I'm a complete novice to all this and was getting

jerky payback on the TV through an A95X Max with untampered with settings, hardware acceleration was enabled and

everything looked ok. On the Server I came across a tick box to enable the option of External Players so I ticked it and when

I went to the Android box and clicked play on the same movie I was given the option to play with Kodi I clicked "yes" and it

played perfectly.

Solved my problem, happy chappie.

That's an entirely different thing, and not related to this issue. You're using an Android box, this is Theater for Windows. I would say it's apples and oranges, but it's more like apples and walnut trees.

Thanks, I'll just shut up and leave you experienced people alone.

@DonkeyBike are you still having an issue with this?

I've all but given up on emby.... I regret paying for premier without finding out more. Movies jerky, voice out of

sync, crash every now and then. I think ill put my drive in a usb box and plug it into the tv.
