Xbox One S and SHIELD

I tried playing around with the "Play To" option from Emby from Edge browser on my computer.

1) Xbox audio: Xbox prompted to install Groove Music app. I did. Music doesn't play and shows no sign that a device is even connected and trying to play it. When I click on "Remote Control" from Edge, it just shows nothing playing.

2) Xbox video: Xbox prompted to install Movies & TV app. I did. When I try to play to a recording, the Xbox goes black with a spinning green loading symbol. When I click on "Remote Control" from Edge, it just shows nothing playing.

3) My two SHIELDS don't show up in the list all. Are they simply not supported, is there a setting I have to enable, or something I have to install?

For #1 and #2, if you're playing to DLNA then we can't control what Xbox will do when do this. So it prompts you to install those apps.

I think there is an issue with play to dlna in the beta server that needs to be looked at.

For shield, try opening the Emby app.

It was really odd because before it went to the store to install the apps, Emby on my computer acted like it was playing. After the app installed, now trying to play anything Emby in Edge acts like it isn't doing anything.

I mean, it's fine that I can't control it from the computer but the computer needs some indication that it's busy sending content to the Xbox.

I did, it did not show up in the list on the computer. I just double checked: one of the Shields has been running Emby for a while now and it is still not showing up via Edge. Edited by FordGT90Concept

Ok, eventually android will close the socket connection that the app uses for remote control. We will eventually supplement this with push notifications like the mobile android app has so that we can ensure it will always be able to communicate. Thanks.

#1 and #2 seem to only be a problem if Emby Theater isn't already open on it. If I opened Emby Theater first then cast to it, it worked as expected.

I have not retested #3.
