Remotely Refresh and Update Folders

Hi all

Is there a way to remotely refresh a folder to update any new files that have been imported?

I regularly import races to the emby server, but if I want to watch it within say about 10 mins of transferring the file, I need to login to the server and refresh the folder so emby knows it is there. I can then see it and play it on any emby app.

Being able to remotely press the refresh button (without logging into the server, would be handy.

Thanks

Chris

Do you have Real time monitoring enabled (per library), assuming it works on your OS/filesystem?

Hi there, have you explored the 3-dot menus in the web interface?

Hi Luke

Awesome - that will do the job nicely! Thanks.

Had to go on the hunt to find what you were talking about, but found it I did. Made sense that it was there.

For the record, that particular 3 dot menu is not visible on either my android app or theatre, until you drill right down into a file, ie a movie, or a tv episode etc. I found with Android it took a long tap to get it to open that menu, and with Theatre it took a right click, which is awkward with a remote.

Additionally, in Emby Server that function is called "Scan Library", but the function in the app is called "Refresh Metadata". It obviously does much more than just refresh the metadata, so can I suggest a name change from "Refresh Metadata" to "Scan Library" so it is consistent across the apps?

Thanks again

Chris

Hi Happy2Play

As it turns out, it was on for only some of my folders, but not the 2 I really needed it functional on - go figure!

Thanks for the tip!

Cheers

Chris

Yep, well the "3-dot menus in any interface"  are nice and non functional to refresh anything :), I just added some movies to an existing loaded folder/library, no way man to make them visible at least today...

I did updated some folders over time, a torrent manager is moving all the finished torrents in a library folder, and it seems that at some point in time, when Emby feels good, are scanned and become visible in Home interface.

At least for today it seems that I'll use the old way, usb stick -> TV...

Probably I'll get the sources in the end and change what I need.

EDIT:  damn permissions, this can ruin your evening

Hi, thanks, it's fine. Ftp server was adding by default only root permissions.
