Full Screen in Oculus Go Browser

I use the Emby Server to stream media to my Oculus Go.

When I am in the local network, I can use the Oculus browser to connect to the server via DNLA. The Oculus "Gallery Browser" is horrible, as it does not even show clear thumbnails, but it is OK to work with. For remote access, I use the Oculus Web Browser and the Emby Web App.

The problem is that I am unable to toggle playing Media to full screen. There is a full screen button in the web app, but it does not toggle the "real" fullscreen mode in the oculus Go.  Specifically for 3D media, the true full screen is needed, as the oculus controls for the stereoscopic options are only available in fullscreen.

Toggling the full screen mode e.g. in streaming Media from the Google Drive Web interface works fine; just in the emby app the full screen does not really switch in the correct mode.

Any remedy or workaround for that known???

Thanks and best

Manuel-

Hi,

I have the same problem to use Emby in VR with the WebApp. I have the same device Oculus Quest. I Use DEOVR application to acces WebApp in Oculus Headset. I cannot play in VR mode in fullscreen.

First Solution : Use DLNA to play my video.

Second solution : I use the Video Streaming API to force setting in the URL and use direct stream. Exemple https://YOUR_WEBSITE_ADRESS/Videos/{Id}/stream.mp4?static=true

id: https://YOUR_WEBSITE_ADRESS/web/index.html#!/item?id=XXXXXX&serverId=

static=true force the direct Stream (https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/wiki/Video-Streaming)

Third solution (in progress) : Create a nginx webserver to interface the content of the Emby API request to build a WebXR Interface using DEOVR Hub script. It will be nice if we can integrate directly in WebApp a module for WebXR in Emby-server.

thank,

It is the web browser that runs natively in Oculus Go. Not sure what browser lies underneath.... If it is Chrome, it is HEAVILY customized.

best Info I could find is https://developer.oculus.com/webvr/

and this is what it looks like inside the oculus Go... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwtL_czmzUk

Thanks ! yes it is Chromium-based, so that's good news.

I experience the same behavior on the new Quest 2 with the updated oculus browser.  Would really enjoy a full screen control.  I tried plex and they have it on their web player and it works great.

One other thing I tried is that the Emby Web player will not resolve on http://x.x.x.x:8096  it tries to redirect to x.0.0.1 from the original address.  If I put the fully qualified address in with the full path it works.

Just FYI, the emby web app does not have any sort of redirect like that.

Wonder what is causing that then?  Other personally hosted sites work and other external ones.  Emby is the only one so far I have run across this.

Then the emby web player is called at the ip address:8096 and it then "forwards" to the full path?  Is that how it works?  how does it get from a root path at :8096 to the full path?

But the broader question is support for native controls or getting a full screen button visible for the oculus browser

It's because we're using our custom video controls which hides the ocolus controls. Normally this is fine but apparently their fullscreen function is proprietary.
