Wrong file plays on next play title selection (since 3.1.31a?)

@AngelBlu05

Hi there, I think I have come across another issue since .31a.  I have attached log.  Not sure if anyone else has seen or reported this.  I have done a quick look but did not see.

Seems that on a few occasions over the past day, when selecting the next title to play, the plugin actually starts playing the previous title that was viewed.

In this log, you will see that the title selected was from "The Late Show", but "Family Guy" actually started.  Family Guy was the last file to play from the previous night at 22:25:12.379

You will see another example last night at 22:19:28-29 when "Coronation Street" was selected, but it started playing "Sense8" (again, the previous show that was played.)

It seems that if I stop it, and then try the file again, it will start the correct entry.  I'm not sure what triggers this.

Where are you playing this from? The library or widget? Are you using show information? Are you using the context menu to initiate playback?

For the last instance (Colbert selected, Family Guy played)  I started playback from the home screen widget "Recently Added Episodes" (default skin)

I just checked with the gf for the other instance (Coronation Street/Sense8) and it seems that was from the same - home screen recently added episodes.

Can you do a few tests for me?

Stop and wait a few seconds between the tests, let me know in which case(s) it plays the wrong title. Thank you.

  • play the item directly
  • Via context menu > Play
  • Via context menu > Show information > Play

  • play the item directly
  • Via context menu > Play
  • Via context menu > Show information > Play

So I tried all these tests, from both the library view, and from the main menu widget "Recently Added Episodes"

From the media listing, it seems to play the correct media.

From "Recently Added Episodes" on the home screen I have the following:

  • Direct Play -- plays wrong title (plays previously played item)
  • Context menu > Play  -- Works correctly.  Correct title plays.
  • Context menu > Show Info > Play -- Works correctly.  Correct title plays.

This is very reproducible now that it's been broken down.  Direct play from the widget consistently plays the wrong title.

I have attached the log here.  For reference, I used an episode of "Modern Family" as the base title, and played it from library views, and "Daily Show" as the test from the "Recently Added Episodes" on the home screen.

I've been trying to replicate every which way I can... I just can't. Can you tell me what your recently added episodes refers to? What is the path for the widget? I will try to set it up on my side. I have an idea what the issue is but just need a way to replicate it so I can properly fix it.

Oh I also felt over this bug yesterday. It's only on the recent added widget.

Sorry @@Angelblue05 had no logs but can do later when I'm at home.

I don't need a log. I just need to know what the widget points to. Is it a custom widget you set up or is it prebuilt - pre set by the skin. Thanks :)

I'm using the default skin Estuary on the latest LibreELEC arm build on a Khadas Vim. Using the default recently added widget on the home screen.

FWIW, I was experiencing this issue too.  It started with Kodi 18 beta 3, I installed beta 4 and I haven’t been able to reproduce.

Can anyone confirm what theglaeb reported?

Will try tonight when I'm back home and see if beta 4 resolves it.

To confirm, the only area I encountered the issue is from the recently added episodes widget on the home screen (and I have only been using default skin during testing)

So I updated to beta4, but the issue is sitll reproducible.  Same tests, as before - correct file plays if using context -> play, or info -> play,  Just directly playing is affected (again, only found this on the home screen 'recently added episodes' widget so far.)
