Some probably have the same tvg-id. Currently these are merged but we'll separate them in the future. thanks.

Luke, that is not correct.  You can have the same tvg-id on multiple lines to cover SD and HD feeds etc.. with the same epg info.

It must be some other tag or reason that they are merging. Perhaps channel-id

I would suggest you edit down your m3u to JUST the channels you want to watch.

You can also look for duplicates which are not showing.

It should be fairly easy for you to find out why they are not being displayed.

We plan to expand on our channel management features in a future release. Thanks.

I wasnt complaing - this issue does not affect me.  I was just pointing out that the OPs issue was NOT down to duplicate tvg-id's but something else.

Your assertion that this could be down to duplicate tvg-id's was incorrect - that is all.

I have already do this:

- Download the link (m3u)

- it's as Luke said tvg-id with the same name

- change the name of the tvg-id

- it works

But this not practical since the m3u is a live link and the provider update it weekly

I hope Luke fix it as soon as possible.

PM me your m3u with an example of duplicate channels and I will check it.

Duplicate tvg-ids DO work. it was something that used to cause problems

I had 2 channels with the same name and Emby ignored one of them so something is going on.

#EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="Golf Channel CA"

The other one is the same ID but it's a SD Channel...

Emby would load 1 and not the other....

Is that the full line?  No description no seperate channel-id?

If so, no wonder emby is getting confused.

Herwith an example from mine with duplicate tvg-id

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="2153" tvg-id="I74410.json.schedulesdirect.org",SKY SPORTS F1 FHD

That's the only part of the line that is duplicate...everything else is not. When Emby finished loading, I did a search/went thru every channel and only the UHD channel played/was found which sometimes goes out cause my crappy bandwidth or Ping. I renamed the tvg-id and Emby found it right away. I will redact the entire 4 lines so you may look.....

#EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="Golf Channel CA" tvg-name="CA: Golf Channel UHD" tvg-logo="http://cdn.cablefax.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/golf-logo.jpg" group-title="Sports",CA: Golf Channel UHD
http://go.trusty.iptv:80/live/billgates@[member="gmail"].com/Password/45062.m3u8
#EXTINF:-1 tvg-ID="Golf Channel CA" tvg-name="CA: Golf Channel" tvg-logo="http://cdn.cablefax.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/golf-logo.jpg" group-title="Sports",CA: Golf Channel
http://go.trusty.iptv:80/live/billgates@[member="gmail"].com/password/45369.m3u8

I see what you mean though...Apparently Emby doesn't read tvg-name like Kodi or VLC does...Or Group-title either :( , Luke is supposed to be adding those capabilities.

How VLC Reads the Channels.....

I would love to have channel-id as part of my m3u but I do not run the IPTV service, nor will I think they will add that just cause I need it. Groups are what's really needed like kodi does it...Now that's a very well-thought-out guide structure. As OP said, the m3u list is updated sometimes daily or weekly so it's impraticle to edit it and add that info.

Try assigning them a specific channel-id in m3u and/or remove tvg-name.  Put the name of the channel at the end.

Like we both said....It's not feasible to edit the m3u because it's updated daily or weekly. Most IPTV providers use a logon to access the Streams and don't actually use a .m3u file.

no most provide m3u but they do not make them readily available. I’ve been through 4 services now in the last 2 years, all had m3u.

Unfortunately you have no choice but to edit the m3u manually. It’s not news that these change on a weekly basis, we are all using similar versions. Ours change for the weekly football games. But emby doesn’t support this and that hasn’t changed in the last 2 years of asking. So make up your own mind

Dearest @@EODCrafter

As you may or may not know, the url you refer to can be used to download a static m3u file.

I was asking you to make TEST changes so that we can understand WHY the channels are NOT displaying.

Once we KNOW the reason which ISNT just same tvg-id (which I KNOW works) then it may be possible for @@Luke to make changes -he's not going to work it out for you.

BUT if you cant be bothered to test and try things - b*ll**ks to you. i'm out

Dearest Krs, lol, i don't need to test I was just trying to help OP out. I know adding Channel ID's works just fine. Please don't be a W#*ker!

BTW, Luke and I had a lengthy discussion on this already and I furnished him with a free test account so he is well aware of whats going on as he has already posted.

You can always create a script to massage the m3u8.  This way you don't have to use the argument "it updates daily/weekly".  You have a script download the latest m3u8, twice a day if desired, and the script then can "massage" the contents, updating and removing contents as desired, and you point Emby to this cleaned up m3u8 file.

Bonus points for adding an emby API call to force fresh on the tv after updating.

I wish......I get excited when a simple cd /home >>>> npm start script works! This is way above my head.

Just adding channel-id "1","2","3","4","5", to the order i receive the m3u and to each stream in the downloaded .m3u would be perfect. Everyone would LOVE YOU!!!! I use Ubuntu 18.04.

Wget will work fine for downloading in a cron job, then executing the script.

I can't even get my head around how you would make it skip a line every time and add the number sequence like this...I'll be truly amazed.

I have an open-source script that I use to assign channel numbers, but in my case, I'm using some additional logic, groups sports channels, entertainment channels, etc.  My original problem was that the default ordering was causing issues mapping with SchedulesDirect.  My assigning me own channel numbers, I worked around that.  I also use the script to update channel names so that I can match better with SchedulesDirect.
