App lockup requires device restart

Five times today I have had my android app run into some sort of bug be it something fails to load or the random black bar at the bottom of the video player shows up or maybe the whole app just stops responding to touches.

Normally when I run into these problems I'll remove it from recent apps and re-open it, if that fails go into settings and force stop the app.

Today when doing this (force stop) and then trying to re-open the app I get a black screen. Try force stopping some more or removing from recent apps doesn't fix it. The only way to get emby for android to work again is to completely restart the android device it self (which takes for ever on my phone :/).

App 3.0.16

Android 7.1.1

I have the same issue on a Chromebook, ASUS C100P.

Reboot Chromebook, open emby, close emby, open anything else, e.g. Chrome, close that, try to reopen emby but get blank screen. 100% consistent, needs reboot to fix.

Clearing the app cache and data does let it reopen without the blank screen.

Same thing on my Chromebook (Acer Chromebook 14).  Emby works fine until I close it and reopen it.  Then all I get is a blank screen.  Have not tried rebooting but uninstall and reinstall solves it...until I close and reopen it.edit just tried rebooting the chromebook and emby worked without reinstalling

For the record, I haven't had this issue in a while with my Z2 Play. I still occasionally get a blank screen when I open the app, though that's almost always when it was already open but in the background and the network changed (4g/wifi, lan/wan). Removing it from recent apps and re-opening usually solves that.

The web via a browser is a great alternative though if you dont use download/sync. Its more or less the same as the android app when viewed from a mobile browser.

My workaround has been to ditch the app and use the web interface via Chrome.

I didn't realize I could do that and will, my Feedly app is the same way that I have to access it through Chrome cause the app loads and you cannot do anything with it.  Hmmm...sounds familar to this problem.  I do like dedicated apps tho. Thanks for your help
