scb99 187
Hi, I have media libraries on a PR4100 and have Plex installed but am unhappy with various things and thought I'd try Emby. By the way first impressions: - the management interface is much less gimmicky and cleaner / faster / easier to use than Plex - there is actually someone on the forums who takes an interest Anyway two questions. 1. I tried first to install the beta 3.6 but this came back "Failed" (I then looked in the install directory and it wasn't even there). So now I tried with 3.5 and this worked fine first time. 2. Hardware acceleration for transcoding (beta). Should I try this out? I have no idea which would be relevant one to select. Thanks :-) Edited September 13, 2018 by scb99

scb99 187
Ok will do. Is there a known issue with installing the beta? Thank you!
Luke 37007
We're not sure yet. Thanks.
scb99 187
Understood re the beta. In the meantime h/w transcoding is on and all good so far (including files where plex fell over with h/w transcoding enabled). I'll try an endurance test overnight. Cheers. scb99 187
Just as another update, and given I'm still just playing a bit with Emby, I tried again with the Beta 3.6.41 to put it over 3.5 as an upgrade instead of an initial install, and doing that seems to have works fine. (So I'm now running the beta, for better or worse). Just an FYI.
