PrincessClevage 173
Would it be technically possible to add an option to enable or disable frame rate switching for each top level categories? E.g for top level categories like live tv and recorded tv I would disable refresh rate switching, leaving it to run at my tv default 60hz but for movies structure I would enable refresh rate switching for smooth movie playback.. PrincessClevage 173
Why based on library and not video characteristics?Ideally this would be a better option if those video characteristics can be accurately and consistently assessed correctly without add unwanted side effects e.g undesirable increase in time to play live tv etc Edited September 13, 2018 by PrincessClevage

Guest asrequested
I think she means it's just slow to switch. Which it is. And for live TV, that would be an annoyance. So if you could only enabled frame rate switching for libraries/media of your choice, it would be better. I tend to agree.
Kramerika 16
I would second this. I want more control over what media the refresh rate switching applies to. First of all, thank you for implementing it because I do enjoy having video content, especially movies which tend to be 24 Hz, match its native refresh rate. However, there is no way to avoid live TV or recorded TV from also doing this since the option applies to everything, and this causes me problems because live and recorded TV often default to 30 Hz which is not optimal. I have to manually change it back to 60 Hz to smooth it out, especially for sports which look terrible at 30 Hz. It would be nice if I could simply set the refresh rate to always be 60 Hz for all live TV and recorded TV. And I just noticed that this was in the Theater app forum as I got here by a forum search. FYI that I use the Android app on the Shield TV or Amazon Fire TV, but I would hope that any option added to the Theater app would also be added to those apps.
