Watching multiple shows in broadcast order.

Hello,

I'm reasonably new to Emby...liking what I'm seeing so far.  I don't actually know if this is going to wind up being a feature request, or someone pointing me to something that already exists to do what I'm looking for, but I was not able to find something that works.

What I am looking for is a way to watch multiple TV shows in broadcast order.  I would envision this being used to watch multiple shows which intertwine together in the order they were broadcast so that crossover information is played in the "correct" order.  Personally I would find it useful for shows like NCIS/NCIS LA/NCIA NO, or the ArrowVerse shows, which I always watch in broadcast order across the series.

I've tried using a playlist, which I can place in the correct order, but the playlist mechanism doesn't seem to honor the watched/unwatched flag, so every time I start the playlist, I get the first video. I also tried using a Collection, but there is no option to play items in broadcast order.

If either of those two mechanisms were updated to allow for playing back in broadcast order, that would be wonderful.  A better option (in my opinion) might be another level of hierarchy above show (maybe called Universe?) which would contain multiple shows, and allow you to open a specific show as it is, or treat all the episodes of all the shows as if it were one big super-show.

Hoping to gauge interest and get feedback on what might be the easiest/best way to do something like this.

Thanks!

HI, we plan to make the filtering more robust in the future as well as add sorting controls to playlists and then i think you'd be able to more easily do this sort of thing. Thanks.

I am behind this, buddy. Definitely helpful for Arrowverse shows or NCIS. You got my support towards this feature.

Do you have a timeframe on implementation of this feature?  Is this something that might be available in tame for the ArrowVerse premiere shows in October?

Just to be clear we have not committed to this as a feature. I have only said that improved filtering may help you achieve what you're looking for. Thanks.

Fair enough.  Let me clarify my question.

Do you have a timeframe on the more robust filtering and sorting controls for playlists you are speaking of?  Also, do you need people to assist with testing?

I can't offer an ETA, sorry, but yes more testers are always welcome. You can participate in the Testing Area at the bottom of the community. Thanks.

After hoping around the Law & Order gauntlet, I'd like to add another hat in favor of this feature being implemented.

Thank you for your consideration!

Howdy,

I know this is an old topic, but were their any updates regarding the ability to watch shows in scheduled order? I just started watching 3 series that aired in the 90s. They are not crossover type shows, but they aired during the same period. I was looking for a way to play the episodes in order by the weeks they originally aired without having to go out and into each folder for the next episode. I know its a silly thing to do, but I just wanted to watch the 3 series as they originally aired. Any help or suggestions?

Not yet. You could do it with playlists but you'd have to manage them manually.
