Hello, I just wanted to ask what is the default resolution of the Movie posters that Emby downloads, I really like the posters that Emby picks, Or maybe I'm asking the question wrong and should ask how emby picks the poster out of some many different posters, is resolution, Votes of the poster.

Thank you for your answer, but I meant the internal emby selection preference, not settings.

 

The reason of my question is because I don't use Emby to download the artwork, I use a program just for that, and I like the poster that emby picks, I would love to adjust the settings and have it choose the same poster.

 

I've been digging how emby picks the poster and I'm not sure but I think that emby prefers the resolution of  1000 - 1500, 1400 - 2400, but it downloads anything else if a poster of that resolution is not available. Can you please confirm this Luke?

 

I have an automatic media set up, and use multiple tools to achieve it, I could explain why I don't use emby to download artwork but it is very specific to my hardware, preference, performance, to make it short, all I do is select the movies that I want to download, everything else is done automatically, I use a NAS as server, the tools I use are, Emby, filebot, Subliminal Docker image, Beets docker image, Ember media manager.  

 

If I use emby for those extra features I notice a performance drop, (remember that I use a NAS not a powerful PC), and also because those tools have some extra features that Emby doesn't.

Hi, you mean you want to adjust the settings in the other program? Then yes what happy2play said earlier is correct. It's based on language setting, popularity of the poster, resolution, etc.

On the server you can set the minimum resolution for backdrops only, then after that it will decide based on the criteria H2P mentioned above.  There is nothing for posters

Yes that is exactly what I meant, so far I got everything set, but you didn't confirm the resolution preference of Emby for artwork, was I right or wrong when I said that emby prefers the resolution of  (1000x1500), (1400 - 2400), but it downloads anything else if a poster of that resolution is not available?

yes prefers just means that it sorts the results by quality.

Depends on the provider as TMDB I believe is the only site with different resolutions.  And it looks like Emby uses score/votes for priority not resolution as shown above.

Thanks brother, you are right, because of the information you provided I'm setting the program to give priority for highest vote, then the resolution.

OK so after being advised by @@Happy2Play I'm posting an image here.

 

According to him, and our PM conversation "it appears priority is going by Resolution over score and vote."

 

Reason: In blue is the poster that the scrapper selected. In green the better one and also with more votes and much better and cleaner.

 

 

And also, strangely, Emby (for this particular movie, for example but I take it's for all) is not providing me with the posters available on fanart.tv

Fanart.tv has no English results to return. If you select all languages you will see those images (no language and Polish).

I didn't think anything was wrong, it came up on a PM conversation with @@Happy2Play, and he has explained it here as well, I just took this matter public for anyone interested. On that regard (fanart.tv) I've seen the recent posts about it not being all that available in search results because of the hammering on their servers if I remembre correctly.

Thanks!!! That will save me some time, because right now Emby is even downloading posters without the movie title or posters that come filled with unwanted and ugly text vs existing posters that have 20+votes and ate super clean looking.

PS: Couldn't you set-up a setting server-side in order for users to choose the criteria? I mean, this is just my personal taste.

I agree, but if Luke said the 00 can be hacked I think a lot of people wouldn't mind I'm not including myself though. But I don't think the guys over at fanart are giving an actual damn right now ?

Couldn't understand how's that correlated with what I wrote    but anyway:

 

No, not yet. I've only donated to you guys (Emby, and also considering lifetime donation) and Emby for KODI addon. Seems enough to me for the time being.

I rarely select their posters as well, since they are not and never were my 1st source in the scrapper.

So I hardly take advantage of anything, unlike you implied

 

But by the way I wasn't complaining, you misinterpreted my post.... I was simply trying to prove a point, nothing else.

Forgot to ask, when you implement that change, running a library sync will override any changes I've made to the already existing posters? Nope, correct?
