App grabbing focus during playback

Hi Luke,

There also seems to be one little bug here: in the main window, if I'm playing anything where there's more than one track (album, playlist, etc.), the app takes Windows' (the OS) focus away from the window you are working in and puts it back on Emby Theater every time a new song starts.  It seems it might only be a problem in Windows 7 as I can't replicate this annoyance in Windows 10.  Can this be fixed in Windows 7?

Thanks,

James

When you say you can't replicate on windows 10, is that with the store app, or the desktop app?

Hi Luke,

Sorry, I didn't notice there are two different apps for Windows 10.  It's the store app.  Would you like me to test it using the desktop app?  Will it hurt anything to have both installed at the same time?  I'm guessing not.

Thanks,

James

The desktop app seems to work better in Windows 10 than Windows 7.  The icon in the Task Bar flashes with each new track, which is definitely confusing (to me anyway), but at least it doesn't pull Windows focus away from what you are doing elsewhere, so that's huge!  I haven't tried Windows 8.1 yet, maybe I'll try that next.  I primarily work in Window 7, which is really where I personally need it NOT to pull Windows focus to itself.

Thanks Luke,

James

Not here.  I just played several songs while scanning the forum and didn't see the icon in the taskbar flash when switching tracks.  No stealing of focus either.  All my computers are Win10

Tested:

Win10 (2 computers)

Windows Store app version .266 on both

Server v3.6.40 beta running on Synology NAS

Is anybody else using Windows 7 and Emby Theater?  Do I need to reinstall?  Is there another Media Player I can use to connect to Emby Media Server on Windows 7?

Ah yes, DLNA.  I was thinking before I asked that question.   ;)   Do you have a guide on how to set that up?  I'm assuming something has to be setup on server side (Emby Server).

Thanks,

James

There is no setup required. Just install and run a dlna client app and it should connect to Emby Server. Like vlc for example.
