3.0.2 - no playback

Best Answer serpi , 25 August 2018 - 04:30 PM

And how are you configuring the settings in Theater?

I tried different settings for hardware acceleration, with and without OpenGL High Quality Mode, most settings are auto, display rate changing is out.

Also, both PCs have different settings.

External player works, if I enable one.

But now, I found the setting, that makes the problem:

If I set the 3D conversion mode to something else then auto, then it doesn't work.

I had it to set to mono on my HTPC and arcc on my PC.

This seems to be a result, that the video-stereo-mode parameter isn't supported anymore, there was already another thread of me about this.

Setting 3D conversion in MPV is now more complicated, as you also have to tell it, what is the source format.

@Luke

How about pushing out a new ET version which removes the 3D conversion mode setting and doesn't send this parameter anymore, until you found a way, to implement it in the new way?

Ciao, Alfred

I found a lua script on my disk, that I must have found sometime, somewhere, that does automatic 3d mode activation using the lavfi filter, I'm attaching it here inside a zip archive.

The output mode is set in a local variable out3d. Maybe this could be set from ET?

Sadly, I do not know, where I found it, so I can give no credits.

I made a few adaptions to it and now it seems to work.

The available output formats can be found here.

I will do some more testings with this, but the main problem is, that, at least the last time I tried, mpv doesn't support all ffmpeg modes (hdmi didn't work, not tested with new version) and some modes are already broken in ffmpeg (for example irr).

But arcc (red/cyan conversion) and ml (show in 2d) are working without problems.

Ciao, Alfred

This is happening for me.  I've tried changing the 3D conversion mode to something else but it hasn't made a difference.  Not really keen to be replacing mpv versions or uninstalling/reinstalling RT.  We really should be past the stage were that is needed to fix issues in non beta versions of the program.  As it currently sits I have a non functional ET install.  Been forced to use VLC and have cranky wife

Set the 3d mode in Theater to auto and it will work again.

I can't even get the installer to install a fresh version.  Dead in the water.  Great update

Make sure to close the app and then run the installer again.

When I press play, or a theme video starts to load I get the wait circle spinning in the middle of the screen and no video plays at all.  It just sits there and after about 10 minutes I get a playback error with something about no compatible streams.  This makes ET completely unusable as it is for me.  No idea what else I can even try if a full uninstall and re-install doesn't fix it.  Suggestions?

I would suggest making sure that windows is fully up to date. I would also configure audio settings in the app, making sure to only select pass-through formats that your audio hardware supports, and make sure that you've also completed the windows audio setup wizard.

Audio was just set to auto.  I don't do anything fancy.  I just have a set of logitech speakers connected via optical.  No special amplifiers or anything.  This setup has worked for years as is.

Try configuring it in Emby by explicitly setting the number of channels. It may not resolve anything but it is generally recommended.

additionally if you have antivirus installed, perhaps it tampered with the install folder. Try disabling the Av and then install the app again.

No AV installed.  Not sure if windows 7 has an Audio setup wizard.  Have tried setting 5.1 in audio

I am now. To be honest I have kept this machine sitting without allowing updates for a very long time now.  Got sick of them breaking my media center.  Consequently the machine has run pretty much without fault for a long time now (years).  What exactly is the requirement on windows updates that could break ET this bad?  Did the latest MPV or electron has some specific requirements?

Can you post a screenshot of your audio and video settings in Theater, and your windows audio config?

I have Realtek digital audio as my device. I think the screen you showed is supposed to be available from the configure button which you can see is not selectable
