Hi,

yesterday the automatic update installed ET version 3.0.2 over 3.0.1 on two PCs, both with Windows 10 x64.

Both have the same problem: When starting playback, only the spinning circle appears, the video doesn't start.

On my main HTPC I reverted to 3.0.1, disabled auto update, playback works again.

On the other PC, still 3.0.2, playback not working.

Server is 3.5.2.0 on windows, also the video files are there.

I see no errors in server log, also nothing in ET log (even after enabling debug logging).

What's wrong?

Ciao, Alfred

I just did another test:

After replacing the 3.0.2 mpv.exe with the (much smaller) 3.0.1 version, playback works again.

But if I start the 3.0.2 exe standalone and drop a video on it, this works.

Is there a mpv log somewehere?

I did a full uninstall, and a manual reinstall of Emby Theatre 3.0.2, reconfigured it and it all seems to be working correctly now

Renamed ET folder, new installation - no playback.

Uninstalled ET, selected to delete all files, new installation - no playback.

So, for me there's no playback with 3.0.2, only spinning circle.

Well, it does work with the mpv version from 3.0.1, which says it is 2.8.0-401.

The oldest file I tested from the mpv repository has version 2.8.0-633.

If this numbers are correct version numbers...

Is windows fully up to date?

Yes, it is. Version 1803, all current updates installed. On both PCs.

Theater 3.0.1 is using electron 2.0.0. I have no idea what that number you posted, corresponds to. The latest electron version is 2.0.8. Try version 2.0.0 in Theater 3.0.2. Or better still, put the latest mpv in Theater 3.0.1.

These were the mpv.exe version numbers.

Now I tried ET 3.0.1 with mpv from 3.0.2 - doesn't work, no playback, only spinning circle.

Do you have an mpv.conf? if yes, what's in it? If no, what is your hardware configuration (GPU, receiver, etc.)?

This is my mpv.conf (pretty empty):

#video-stereo-mode=arcc
log-file=D:\mpv.log

This PC is an i5-3570K with Nvidia GTX 1050.

My HTPC, where it also doesn't work, is an Intel J3455 with onboard graphics (Intel HD 500).

So, different hardware, same result.

The video files are on a Windows server, mostly mp4/mkv with h264.

And how are you configuring the settings in Theater?

I tried different settings for hardware acceleration, with and without OpenGL High Quality Mode, most settings are auto, display rate changing is out.

Also, both PCs have different settings.

External player works, if I enable one.

But now, I found the setting, that makes the problem:

If I set the 3D conversion mode to something else then auto, then it doesn't work.

I had it to set to mono on my HTPC and arcc on my PC.

This seems to be a result, that the video-stereo-mode parameter isn't supported anymore, there was already another thread of me about this.

Setting 3D conversion in MPV is now more complicated, as you also have to tell it, what is the source format.

@@Luke

How about pushing out a new ET version which removes the 3D conversion mode setting and doesn't send this parameter anymore, until you found a way, to implement it in the new way?
