Re-tested with 3.0.34 on LibreELEC

If you set a user password in Emby, use it with Kodi and then unset the password again, Emby for Kodi continues to ask for a now blank password. From this point on you need to sign in manually.

Simple steps to reproduce

  • Add a new Emby user with no password
  • Add that user as a kodi user/profile.
  • Login as this new Emby user on Kodi
  • Logout and log back in to confirm no password is asked for (as intended)
  • Logout of Kodi
  • In Emby set a password on that user.
  • Confirm it works in Kodi by logging in with the password
  • Logout of Kodi
  • In Emby remove the password on that user
  • Confirm that you now have to login every time in Kodi using a blank password.

I have tried all the Kodi addon cleanup options up to and including the reset feature. I have had a friend separately confirm the issue using the procedure above.

This is really confusing the kids, any help would be appreciated.

Update:

this is less pretty but it is reproducible and hopefully it will hint at where the problem lies.

Setup:

  • user1 has no blank password issue
  • user2 has the issue

From a clean boot logging in directly to the user:

  • user1 has no blank password issue
  • user2 has the issue

however if from a clean boot you login as user2 first (who has the issue) and then try to switch  profiles to user1 this user will develop the issue.

Until you reboot and direct login to user1 they will have the blank password issue.
