I have an Echo Dot, an Emby Premier account, and have connected through Emby connect. If I go to the Android app I can play movies and TV to the Emby app connected to my TV. I can have Alexa tell me what is next.it will tell me recently added movies. What I cannot do is, have Alexa actually get anything to play. The documentation says I can set up a default device, but it fails to tell me how. When I ask it to play something, it just it is having trouble accessing the Emby skill. One thing I noticed is that it works for anything that is getting info from the server, such as latest movies. However, if I repeat any of the commands that would require it to play on a device it does not work. That is the piece that is missing from the instructions. I can do a play to the Emby client, if I am not using Alexa. How do I tell Alexa to Use my Cave TV? How do I set it up as the default? Whatever, I try saying, Alexa tells me it cannot connect to the Emby skill, when I want it to actually do something, other than give me server information. pvcleave 4 Posted August 19, 2018 Author Share Posted August 19, 2018 I tried using the Command Change The Player. It says I do not have a default player. So I say change the player to Cave TV. Then it says you do not have a default player and you can set it by saying change the player. We keep going in circles. Maybe I am not naming my players correctly. I am assuming that I do not have my device set up correctly, as it never gives me a choice. The device I want to control with Alexa, I am able to control from a web browser on another computer or my Emby app from my phone. I keep disconnecting my device and reconnecting it with Emby connect, but I am obviously missing a step. So I think what I need to know is how to I set up a device. I know my server is available to the internet, as I and my family connect remotely constantly. So I should see if my computer is blocking the app from the internet. pvcleave 4 Posted August 20, 2018 Author Share Posted August 20, 2018 On my network I have two different servers, one serves up movies for my kids, coded in H264, and others for me at H265. (I am trying to combine them, but haven't.) One of my server is using port 8096 and the other 8097. I tuned off the 8097 and it started working. I have two, with different names, and when I link alexa, there's a drop down box to pick which one to link to. If yours are named the same, they probably got lumped together. Carlo 4330 Posted January 21, 2021 Share Posted January 21, 2021 Ahh, yes you are GEO blocked. You can however change your location to say USA and then could install the skill. But let me ask you this. Are you going to be able to use a language we currently support such as English for the skills? We have a new dev working on Alexa and Google home who is going to help us improve feature, languages and geo locations, but we aren't there quite yet.
