Emby Theater freeze when playing music

Hello,

I am pushing hard to complete the move from Emby for Media Center to Emby Theater and everything is working great so far except for music.  When I play music with Emby Theater the client will usually freeze after a few songs and stop playing.  It always stops playing between 2 songs.  It is never the same number of songs.  It can play OK for 2,3,10, 20 songs and randomly stops.  I do not have this behaviour from the same PC when using Windows Media Center native music playing feature or when using my Samsung Smart TV which is using the same WiFi network from the same position in the house (same distance from the router).

I suspected network problems but as I said the same PC has no issue playing music using Media Center or streaming 1080p movies or TV Shows using Emby Theater on the same network.  This is really getting frustrating.  Any idea?

My setup is an HTCP running Windows 8.1 fully up to date connecting to the emby server on 5Ghz Wifi (medium strenght signal).  I am running Emby Theater 3.0.1.  The server is running Emby Server 3.5.2.0.  I am attaching the server log.  Look for errors around 20:47.

Thanks

I was thinking it's a glitched install. That's why I was suggesting the trying the test build. And see if it happens with that.

I'll try uninstalling, cleanup and re-installing.  I can also try the test build.  It seems loaded with improvements.  Thanks guys.

Actually, this happens to me several times a week.  I just close theater and restart it.

Ok, if you guys could post some mpv logs, that might help.

How to set up mpv logging

I setup this up but there is no resulting log file generated.  I even restarted my PC.

As it might matter, I am using the Microsoft App Store edition of Emby Theater.

No, that's for the desktop app. The store app uses the windows player.

Thanks, I suspected as much which is why I mentioned it.

That leads to, How can I generate log files for troubleshooting?

Sorry, just got around to checking the file types.  I have mp3 and m4a files in my music collection.

Well, these guys are using different apps. One is desktop and the other is the store app. Unless this is happening server side, they are different issues. In all my playing on the desktop app, it always plays. I'll have to play an album in the store app, and see.

Are you guys using play lists, albums or making queues?

I just queued up the last five tracks of an album in the store app. And it's played without an issue.

Am I understanding this correctly? You're saying that it doesn't stop mid song, but only once the song has finished and is supposed to play the next, but doesn't?

I am opening the Theater app, right click on my Music library icon on the home page and select Shuffle.

That is when I notice it the most is when it changes songs.  Seems like it is finishing the current song from what is in cache(?) (the progress indicator is at 100%), but when it attempts to shuffle up the next song the circular indicator just spins indefinitely.

At this point I just close the app and restart.

On my end I am having the problem with albums, playlists or queues.  My symptom is the same as @RobWayBro: it will play a few songs then simply freeze between 2 songs.  Never in the middle of a song, only when chaning to the next song.

What I'm curious about is that both apps are demonstrating this issue. That would seem to exclude player involvement, and imply a commonality between them.

Hello guys,

Any help here would be appreciated.  I am experiencing the same behaviour with Emby Theater for Windows and Emby for Samsung Smart TV.  Here a log from last night.  Maybe someone can make sense of it.  I started the album Future Sex-Love Sounds from Justin Timberlake around 17:34.  It played flawlessly until the end of song 07 - Chop Me Up.mp3.  Then after that song around 18:12, nothing.  Playback just stopped.  From the log I think it never requested the next song.  I am unsure.  Same log, started playing Confessions on a dance floor at 19:13, playback simply stopped after 05 - I Love New York.mp3 at 19:38.  The next song never started.  You can't even find the request for the next song 08 - Let it will be.mp3.  You do however see a playback stopped for 08 - Let it will be.mp3 at 19.39.  Very strange... and frustrating.

This was from my Samsung Smart Tv running 1.0.44 and my server is running 3.5.2.0.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.  I am really trying hard to move everything to Emby but Music is proving to be very difficult.

I forgot to mention that the difference between ET for Windows and Emby for Samsung TV is that the ET for Windows client is totally frozen when it happens.  I cannot queue something else.  With the Samsung TV, it simply waits there for an input on the now playing screen.  The next song is shown, and the timer stays at 0.   Pressing pause/play does not change anythng.  I can then take control and go queue something else..
