Continous Play Not Working

I have a Roku Stick and I recently updated to Version 3.5.2.0 and now none of my playlists will continue playing. It used to work fine  on the old version and I haven't changed any settings. In a 30 item playlist it only plays the first two or three then it just stops for some reason. In the advanced setting the option to play the next episode automatically is still checked even tho I had to uninstall and the reinstall to get the updated to work, is there some other setting I should change? I switched from Plex to Emby because of them not even having this playback option so it is pretty important that I figure this out somehow, I'm not sure what else I could try next.

There isn't any playback protection turned on the Roku, all my other apps will play mutiple episodes up to their own max playback time with no issues

Hi, he's asking about a setting in the Emby Roku app related to this. Have you checked your Emby Roku app settings? Please let us know if this helps. Thanks !

Hi.  I'm a little confused because you said "playlists" but then you mentioned the auto queue next episode option (which wouldn't apply to a playlist).

Can you explain exactly what you are playing and from where?

Thanks.

I checked the Emby settings and the protection option is turned off so I don't know what is going on. I tested it on my Chromecast yesterday and that is playing fine without stopping, so I guess I the problem is the Roku and not the server. I just need to switch the devices in my rooms for now and continue to mess around with the Roku settings or do a reset.

I may be able to shed a little more light on this problem that hopefully will help point to where to find the solution. I am currently using Emby server 3.6.0.73 beta with the Roku app 3.0.111 and I also cannot get a music playlist to play continuously.

What I have found, is that it is being interrupted by the Roku screensaver. The playlist will play about three songs and then the screen saver will start. At this point, the song currently playing will continue until finished but then the next song in the queue never starts. But when I push the back button on the Roku remote and return to the Emby screen, the playlist will resume playing until the screensaver pops back up again.

I tried playing a music album instead of a playlist and noticed something else that was interesting. The entire album will play through with no screensaver popping up! I saw one difference between album play versus playlist play. With album play there is an Emby screen that shows Time/Album/Artist/Title. This screen stays up the entire time without being interrupted by the screensaver. When the playlist plays there is no music information; only a completely black/blank screen which will eventually be overridden by the screensaver.

I have also tried the beta Roku app 3.0.128 and none of my playlists will play at all on that version. The screen just goes black and there is no sound. ??? Album still plays fine.

I hope this info will help trace the problem. I will be glad to try and answer any questions you might have.

Also, let me just say, Emby is the best entertainment server hands down! And you guys do an awesome job maintaining it! Keep up the good work! :)

@@Brad58 I will investigate this issue tonight with playlists. What version of firmware is your Roku?

Okay, figured out the playlist issue. Also separated the music favorites and made them consistent with the web app. After I test these changes fully I can get them submitted tomorrow and hopefully the team approves.

Just wondering how things are progressing on the playlist issue. As things are now, playlist playback seems to be completely broken. I just updated my server and Roku apps, and this is how things are working for me as of today.

I am using:

Emby server version 3.6.0.83 beta running on Raspberry PI Raspbian 9 (Stretch)

Roku 3 Model 4230X with software version 9.0.0 – build 4084-04

Findings while using Emby Roku app version 3.0.134 beta:

First tried the playlist category on the home page. All of my playlists show just fine, but when I select one and press “play” I get a message, “Video error – No streams were provided for playback.” This is despite the fact that all of my m3u playlists play fine on the Emby web app.

Second, I tried the playlist option that is located within the “music” category. Here I saw that my playlists were not shown, only thing to be seen was one box with a loading spinner that runs continually. Also noted that the options below the playlist option, “Recently Played” and “Frequently Played” also have a box with the eternal loading spinner.

Findings while using the stable Roku app version 3.0.128:

Playlist category on home page: All of my playlists show just fine, but when I select one and press “play,” the screen goes black and nothing happens, not even the error message that I received with the beta.

Playlist option that is located within the “music” category: All of my playlists show just fine, but when I select one and press “play,” the screen goes black and nothing happens.

To sum up, with both the stable and the beta app I can play any song or album just fine, but playlists will not play. The original reason for this thread was about playlists playing several items and then stopping, which I believe has to do with interference from the Roku screensaver. But now we seem to have bigger problems. Any ideas?

Hi.  All of your playlists are externally created as opposed to created with Emby, correct?
