Shuffle for Music Library

I enjoy listening to music, I have around 500 songs, unfortunately there is no shuffle so I will be listening to the same songs over and over unless I specifically scroll through and pick a song. Is this a feature that is coming soon or one that could be added?

If you view your music library by songs and play one to add the whole list to 'now playing' you can press the shuffle button in the player itself.

If you add things to that list ('add to play queue') you can no longer shuffle, which I still don't understand....

It would be nice to have a play/shuffle button in the library itself instead of just in the details pages though :)

You can shuffle music by artist but can only set loop when playing all songs. I eventually would like to delete all the songs off my phone and stream my music because I have unlimited data and will save quite a bit of space on my phone. I really hope this feature is coming soon.

Hi.  What app are you talking about?  This is available in most of them I believe.

In the web or mobile apps, use right-click or the '...' menu at the library level.

In Roku or Android TV hit the "play" button on your remote when focused on the library.

All of the apps, there is instant mix but it doesnt add all your music, you can shuffle artists and I just found you can on playlists too. I added all my music to a playlist but that's a workaround not a fix. There is no actual shuffle for all songs

I dont have my laptop so I can't right click and there was no '...' button, however I do apologize, if you hold it down on android a menu comes up and has a shuffle option

It would be nice to also add to the algorithm to take number of times listened to into account as I have over 400 songs but seem to hear the same ones when shuffling in at least the web and theater app.

Interesting for sure because I have songs in my library that have never managed to play using shuffle.  I am not starting at a genre, artist, album when I shuffle and it will shuffle through a variety of genres.  I am also quite aware of hearing the same songs repeating, yet others that just never seem to get selected.

Thanks for the Info @@Luke, I appreciate it.

FYI, not that it should make a difference, I left out a zero earlier as I have 4000 songs and yet I hear the same 50 - 100.  I would hope, but a straight random call wouldn't do, to not hear a repeat in say a week  :) .  It is still not terribly troublesome as I know where the skip forward button...

Sorry for the thread necro, but had to search for how to shuffle all my music and this thread came up.

Pressing the play button on the music item isn't obvious, surely a shuffle all item can be added to the album or artist views?

Hi there, what Emby app are you playing from?

Hi Luke,

This was via the Roku App.

I've started moving my CD collection across to Emby, and one of my Kid's asked if we could just "put it on Random", and I had to google it.

Tried this on the latest Roku app (4.0.4) as it was mentioned as "A major face-lift for the Roku app - bringing it more in line with the other apps" but disappointingly still no "obvious" shuffle button (having looked at the web app, it's even more annoying as that has the option)

Hi.  The button will be added to the toolbar but you can still do this using the play button on your remote from the previous screen.

Thanks.
