Choppy image on Huawei Mate 10 Lite

Hi guys,

I am having a choppy image with a Huawei Mate 10 Lite and 1080p content (no matter what bitrate). It looks like the (HW) decoder can't keep up with the stream.

720p and SD content plays fine.

I tried to pull the logs on the Smartphone but wasn't able to find the folder described over here: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/15638-how-to-report-an-android-problem/

Anything you guys need to trouble shoot this, just let me know.

Thanks!

€dit: I will add a small video which shows the problem.

€dit2: Here it is -> https://1drv.ms/v/s!AoPn9ceb766mgb1lChDjA4oOp9AwpQ

Btw.. Stats for Nerds said it was direct playing using libmpv.

In the meantime I tried to enable remux for the user but as it is direct playing it didn't change anything.

€dit: @@Luke, do you think using the latest beta could help solving the issue?

No it won't. And if you drop the bitrate to make it transcode, you're saying it's fine?

Didn't try to transcode. If you are referring to this...

720p and SD content plays fine.

...then what I meant was that DVDRIP's (SD content) and some anime stuff I have in 720p play fine.

As far as I can narrow this down it doesn't seem to be bitrate related. This also ended up with a choppy image and has a way lower bitrate:

@@Luke, any idea what is going on here?

Unfortunately I'm not sure yet. We could always try disabling hardware acceleration for your device although that could end up causing other problems.

I have what looks like the same issue with my Honor 9 Lite, which is also made by Hauwei

All my 1080p movies play in what looks like slow motion, if I set the max video quality to any 720p presets they play fine

Let me know if you would like any logs to investigate this further

This issue does not seems device specific, I just encountered it on a Moto G5S today with version 3.0.15.

The android app has had significant issues for almost a year now. If keep trying new versions once in a while only to always fall back to v2.9.76, which is the last version that seems to be working without issues for me. I side-load a self signed the apk so the app does not get updated accidentally while I am on travel.

And it doesn't seem to be SoC specific either. Yours has a Snapdragon 430 while the Mate 10 Lite and the Honor 9 Lite of @@davelane85 have a Kirin 659.

@@Luke, I really do not wanna rush but my uncle who this smartphone belongs keeps asking me when this will work.

In this quote you stated we could try disabling HW accel., would you mind provide an apk for me to test this?

We'll have a new update out soon. As soon as that happens, then I can make you a test build based on that. Thanks.

I have same problem with Huawei Mediapad 5. Choppy when playing direct, but when i change to lower bitrate (720p 4mbit) it plays okay. I would like to play at higher bitrate and resolution though. Thanks for looking into it. Any updates?

Hi, please try version 3.0.26+ of the app, which is slowly starting to roll out. Please let me know if that makes a difference. Thanks.

At least for me the issue still persists with everything above 720p/1080p 4Mbps on Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite after updating to 3.0.26.

Can you provide a copy of the media info from the web app for one of these files? thanks.
