Yesterday I started having trouble playing videos back on my roku's, i have 2 here on the same network and 3 outside my network and they all are doing the same thing. When i go to play a show it starts to load then goes back to the desription page for the show. my log shows the following

I've had similar problems and a quick power cycle of my Roku 3 helped. May want to try that.

Tried that several times didnt help. On a side note, i have music videos on the server and those seem to play fine. It looks like just TV and Movies.

Can  you show us some information about the video itself? All the media information that is available on the details screen of the web client.

How big is the file? Can you upload it to dropbox or something so we could test it? I'm guessing it is something to do with the file itself, but without testing not sure.

I can upload it but thats just one that wont play, 90% or more wont play now, including ones that were playing fine 2 days ago.

I'm having the same issue all of the sudden. Only a select few of the titles in my library will play. Most titles I select to play just take me back to the Roku channel homepage. I'm going to try and reset everything.

I have also been experiencing what sounds like the same issue. After selecting a item to be played, the media browser channel closes/is shut down. It only happens for some shows, and all those shows have worked fine with other clients.

If I go to the metadata editor using the web client, and refresh the metadata, then all works for on the roku.

This seems to have happened around the same time as upgrading to the 1.7.2 version of the roku channel, but i can't say for sure.

It is most likely that it is caused by the item not having media info (there are a few threads about this already) and we are working on it

Ya, I get that a lot when I copy new movies/shows to a folder. Seems like MB is creating the xml before the entire file is copied and thus can't get all the info. If you click on "media info" in the web client and info is missing then the Roku app will kick you out. Refreshing like Luke says, or once I've even had to delete the xml and then refreshing fixes it for me.

I am currently running Version 3.0.5209.29215 and everything seems to be working again.

Thanks for the quick support, I love this software and will be making another donation soon.

Thanks,

Bill
