SingleCore 0
I've recently discovered Emby and I really like it, but I seems to be extremely buggy when using DLNA with my two televisions. One Sony and one Medion. When booting Emby server and opening up the settings on my TV it seems to detect the server only 80% of the time. When it detects it, it sometimes works flawlessly, other times it claims to doesn't find any video's. All settings are default. I used Plex server before Emby and I never had any issues on any of my two televisions. (With DLNA) TLDR: DLNA doesn't work properly, need help. Luke 37046
Hi, Dlna is something that requires individual testing on every device that you want to support. The fact that it may seem buggy or not is more of an indication that we haven't yet tested personally on the same devices that you have. What model Sony? Luke 37046
That's because the server doesn't have any customization for these devices and therefore it is using the general profile. For most devices this is OK.

Luke 37046
Hi, I would guess that the format of the media that emby server is presenting is not supported by the TV. To help narrow this down, it might be easier to setup emby server with only one small test library of videos. Then perhaps if we can resolve it for one, it will resolve it for all. Thanks. I've tried the following. I tried using direct stream for MKV containers and transcoding, both resulting in not detecting any files. Then I took the MKV file, placed it on a USB, inserted it in the tv and it worked perfectly. The same file also works perfectly fine when using Plex with DLNA. SingleCore 0
I've figured out the follow file does work through DLNA. However the following file fails: I've adjusted my profile settings to only use Direct play and NOT use Transcoding, since both files are playable from a USB device! I've also tried plenty of other settings, but nothing seems to work. Only the MP4 files work perfectly through DLNA, regardless of the settings. Luke 37046
Yea I mean like I said, this just takes trial and error to figure out unfortunately, and since we don't have a 2017 Sony for testing, that's why we have no rules setup for it. What you could try to do is edit the Sony 2014 profile, and edit the identification criteria so that it detects the 2017 model instead. I think that will probably work just fine. SingleCore 0
Hi all I've install wireshark and monitored the traffic while opening the folders on my TV and discovered the following information. Request from TV => Server ---------------------------------------- Response Server => TV ---------------------------------------- I'll continue searching myself, but maybe someone can continue with this info. Using UPNP tools I found the following info about the TV, might be useful? Edited August 18, 2018 by SingleCore
Luke 37046
So clearly Emby is sending back something that the TV doesn't like. The question is, what? I notice the other server doesn't send back any images. That looks like the biggest difference to me.
