Hi Guys,

Lots of questions on the go, in different areas?

Is it possible to use a Back Up file from my PC server and use it on a new NAS Drive set up?

Regards

Rob

Yes you can, just be careful not restore things that have paths in them because that could cause problems. I could consider just restoring the users and user data.

Luke, I'm in the process of copying my library from one NAS to another (and moving Emby from my PC to the NAS). I've decided to change the folder structure somewhat, but I want to keep as many of my current library settings as I can (next up, latest, etc). If I edit the .mblink file for each library section in the library folder of the latest backup from my PC, then import it into the new NAS, will that work? I would be editing the path of the old NAS and updating it to the new NAS. The new NAS will have the same name, but for a couple of TV types I'm removing the parent folder (ex. Television/Cooking will be just Cooking).

That's not being actively tested, so I would not suggest doing that. Granted if you have a full backup then that gives you the ability to try and roll it back if needed.

I'll do a backup first then edit the other one and import it to see what happens. If it works, great. If not I'm not out much!

Editing the backup worked quite well. I was able to edit user info and library location data, then imported it using SSH (since I couldn't browse the network). Once I loaded the edited backup into Emby, it displayed my custom images, correct library info, etc.
