I would like to find a solution that doesn't require a setting. Can we collaborae on that?

I think limiting the double click to the header is a workable compromise.

Sure, you are the boss. but i also understand that there are a lot of things on your list of todos. my personal preference would be the get a fix in for this situation earlier that later so i am kinda leaning towards whatever would be easiest for you to do.

But on a more specific not, i and i am sure other use emby as a browser/player when using it on a pc. i access it via chrome as it doesn't require any additional installs/windows etc and it's nice a zippy.

so in that regard, the full screen state of the home screen is not really the primary user interaction issue. My primary concern is that easy of toggling a playing video to fullscreen. and when it comes to basically any video player or embedded video in the browser, the standard is that a double click/double tap is the shortcut for it. it's a simple and unobtrusive way.

yes the header is a good compromise for the home screen and it will make navigation easier if i am working on other stuff with emby open but the primary issue lies in the point that the emby video player is deviating from the accepted practice when it comes user interactions and causing a disconnect.

thanks for all your hard work.

The video player already has a full screen button though right in the osd.

yes but the issue is that if you are using it with a touch screen laptop, you need to tap to bring up the osd, which pauses the video. then tap to go in/out of full screen and then tap again to play. i hope you see that in terms of user experience this is terrible.

if you are using it with a mouse then you have to hunt for the button every time instead of doing a simple double click anywhere on the screen. a significant annoyance when multitasking.

can you instead make it an option to revert to how it was before? and have it off by default?

did you make a decision on this?

You can double tap anywhere in the header region to toggle fullscreen.

i feel like you have really not getting what i am trying to say. the problem is not when browsing emby, it's when playing a video... i want to be able to double clikc while playing a video to go to full screen, like any media player or web player would.

Can we just make it standard again? Every good desktop media player lets you double click anywhere on the screen to full-screen it.  I completely understand Emby is geared more toward either a phone/tablet or 10 foot interface like Kodi, but that is not an excuse for the desktop experience, its the standard on desktop and is for a reason.  While I thank you for enabling the header feature, its not near as useful.
