gatorchamp85 0 Posted July 6, 2018 Share Posted July 6, 2018 I recently switched from a Shield to the ATV4K for ease of use reasons in the household. On the Shield, I had been using Kodi/SPMC with the Emby sync addon, and for the most part it worked beautifully. Full direct play and Atmos/DTS:X compatibility. Obviously Kodi is not an option on the ATV (without bending over backwards), so the options are limited in terms of robust compatibility. Infuse seems to be the best option for HEVC/4K/HD audio, but no Emby sync at the moment and the UI leaves something to be desired. MrMC is getting closer, but there are still a lot of Kodi elements that I miss. From a UI standpoint, I think you guys have done a really nice job with the Emby app. If the progress made on the iOS app/video player can be ported over to tvOS, I think you guys will have the total package. If you guys end up doing a TestFlight for the tvOS app, I'd love to be on it. A couple things I've noticed that I'd love to see resolved: 1) There's currently no option to filter by Tags. I'm not sure if this is an oversight or if there's some reason it's not working. I use tags pretty extensively to dice up media (previously used with smart playlists on Kodi), so it would be great if this could be added. Here's a photo for reference: 2) It would be great if we could get a shuffle button right next to the play button on TV shows. It's currently hidden in the 'more' button, I think based on frequency of usage it would be better served right next to play. There seems to be plenty of room for additional buttons. I use this frequently with the kids, to put one of their favorite shows on shuffle. Below is a comparison of the Emby view (top) and Plex view (bottom) with the shuffle option next to play.
