Has anyone got a solution for my problem, I want to be able to vertically stretch my movies to fill the full screen. I have been able to do this with Madvr, but not MPV and with all of the new improvements would like to be able to do this with MPV too.

Ive tried myself to get a solution or hotkey to work with MPV and Emby theatre but havent been able to.

Can someone help me with this please ?

We need to add zoom options into the app and then I think that should take care of this.

Yes Luke that would be great, at the moment I'm still using an older version for this reason.

The newer versions with MPV are way better though apart from that.

@circuit

Putting this in the mpv.conf, makes everything fill a 16:9 screen

video-aspect=16:9

If you don't know how to add/use an mpv.conf, this will help

Luke, this is the option

@Doofus

Yep that seems to work, although I think a key bound to some of these options would be the ideal solution.

I tried to do my own key binding, but input.conf is not recognised by Emby.

Does work in MPV though .

Probably a button in the overlay is more likely to happen.

Yeah although i hope a key can be found, because its not always going to be the same aspect ratio required for different types of movies.

A key will be the same as a button on the overlay. You'll just toggle it on an off. MPV has w and e for pan-and-scan, but that doesn't give you what you want. The option you are using will stretch anything you're watching to 16:9. If the movie is padded and not anamorphic, meaning that it has black bars as part of the image, then nothing will happen. If you want an incremental adjustment, then this might work

What I was getting at is that setting this while in the "playing screen" with a single key stoke would be much better, because going back out through numerous menus would be frustrating and unnecessary.  :)

It actually works in MPV, but has been disabled in Emby  :mellow: .

None of the hot keys work in Theater. Luke wants to use the settings in the UI,

One thing that just occurred to me, was that the video-aspect option may need to be applied before playback.

I'm ok with hotkeys but we have our own and they could conflict.

OK, well w and e, work. And I don't see a conflict with other keys. But again, if you have black bars as part of the frame, it won't do anything, as it thinks the frame is already full. And this doesn't stretch the picture, it's more of a zoom. It maintains aspect ratio.

While trying this so far, aspect ratio seems fairly good as a solution for me.

In MPV the hotkey does work while the movie is playing :).

There are already some hotkeys in use, ie pause, stop etc.

The other solution that may work well would be an addition to the play menu, the same as CC (closed captions) and audio channels ?

Not sure how hard that is to implement though, the key "A" is the key already assigned in the original input.conf from MPV.

shift+a isn't in use, so that could also work.

So what you want is to stretch, not zoom, right?

Yes pretty well right, but it doesn't always fit the bill so I want a bit of control.
