chessdragon136 677
@@c0m3r - I'm not taken i must admit - splitting into 1 drop down and 1 hidden sounds messy...Navigation should be in one place as far as my design philosophy goes. With what I have above I think I can make it work. If i need to change some menu defaults so it takes you to the most popular places first (all movies, all tv) then that's easy enough You're welcome to make some mock ups that may help me see what you're thinking. And as much as others say about a MB3 feel I don't want to be a clone either.
c0m3r 95
I do like that, certainly an improvement on the original and I had planned something similar to go after the season selection screen I posted a few pages ago. Now that we see that a dark backdrop works with white text, the two could compliment each other quite well. My only issue is that I still think it needs more graphical content and a little less white text or maybe, with the extra graphics the white text wont look so overpowering? In terms of the splitting the menus, the more I think about it, the more I personally think its the best solution. I think most people will simply wish to browse their media and therefore making the submenu something you need to bring up with a button press is simple enough to use. To me, the submenu is more about sorting that browsing and dont think its unusual to have the two separate.
TolkienBard 54
So I've come across a bit of a strange issue. So far it only applies to three titles in my massive collection, but to be fair, I haven't tried loading all 3,000 titles. When trying to load the titles (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Morning Glory) I get a rather lengthy connection error. The only way the app will function after I get the error is to close out the ap and restart. But the error remains with these titles even then. I have tried streaming them through MB on other devices using the standard MB3 app and MBT. I have no issues that way. I tried deleting the movies and re-ripping them to the library, that did not fix anything. I took a picture of the screen. I'll try to see if I can get a cleaner/steadier one here after my kid finishes watching her movie (streaming flawlessly via this app). https://www.dropbox.com/s/0fp65z43lwoe6mh/20140730_223635.jpg Edited July 31, 2014 by TolkienBard

It looks like I might be a version out of date. I'll update first, then I will recreate to get specifics since my attempt to post a photo has met with an epic failure. Hogan 0
Hi, I'm an end user type with modest pc skills and I'm trying out MB3, which I have working well on a home network. However, I have a question with regards to the samsung app which I'm trying to install on a Samsung HT-E6750W home theatre. This theatre appears to have all the functionalty of a Samsung TV but when I try to install the MB app the web server comes back with a 403 Forbidden error. I read chessdragons post #96 and, before I try and setup things within my own network, would like to ask if it's possible to have the server also recognise the Samsung theatre units. And, does anyone know if this app will actually work with Samsung theatre units. Cheers Hogan

Pine 8
@above1 -> Sorry, I'm currently in a complete redesign of the app - once that's settled out i'll take a look. I need designs for episode and film pages - my idea doesn't work Hi chessdragon136 I have seen in previous posts that you are not keen on "following" other clients and that you prefer to "do your own thing". I would however like to try and encourage you to look what are clients are doing for ideas. There are lots of users out there using more than one platform and I am sure they will appreciate some sort of "standard" across the different platforms (the other clients seem to roughly "adhere" to this). I am sure that no user would blame you for not reinventing the wheel on a new interface and rather spend your valuable time on giving a fully functional and stable client. I also suppose that a stable product would also reach the Samsung appstore a lot quicker. Once the product is stable you can always add nice features which other clients do not have. Please do not see above as criticism - it is just my feeling of how a task like this should be handled (I might be very wrong though). If have high regard for the work you are doing (which I cannot do) and really appreciate what you are doing. I would really like to assist you in making this one of the great products out there. I have not done any programming for many years (and do not intend to do it now) but have a good background in computing and good knowledge of product development and getting it to market. Let me know if/when I can assist in any way. Regards Pine
chessdragon136 677
@@Pine In truth there is no standard across any of the clients - that is one of the problems when each client is developed and designed by a different person. I do use a lot from other clients and use some minor touches of my own, but each client has different issues, mainly in screen space and navigational options. Keyboard and mouse are easy, touch-screens and tv remotes not so But I don't see it as criticism, everyone has an opinion. But the design did need a redesign and many pages are now nearing completeness. For features and functionality its actually a good time for me to do this redesign as I am waiting for some features to hit the stable server version before i can push out some updates..

sornis 0
public alpha test should be enough to give us a clue about the porpouse of this topic.... on the other hand some features could bem standard but why? if we can have the best a platform can give us why be dragged down by the standard? can we aspire to have an ebook reader when looking at my ebook list in samsung.... for instance, I guess not? but if use my pc browser client I wish for that feature to be the best it can be so if it is able to open an ebook directly wonderfull right? after the "final alpha version" or beta im sure Chess can say anything other than this has to be submited to approval.... but this is the fase of the project that "anything goes" in the realm of wishfull thinking so not following a standar is a good thing.
