Emby Roku recognizes server but will not sign in

I upgraded my Internet to fibre yesterday and that caused a router/modem replacement.  Emby was working fine the night before.  I am serving files from a USB 3 device on a local desktop.

When I activate the Emby app on my Roku Premier + it looks for the server and finds it.  It has the IP address and port number correct.

I get the spinning wheel followed the the error message:

"error connecting to the server"  - "timeout waiting for a response from the server"

I suspect something in the settings of the new router/modem and have browsed the admin settings, but can't find anything obvious.  Roadblock, not sure what to do next.

Hi - thanks for the quick reply.  I had gone through all that thanks.  I also have McAfee firewall running and shut it down just to test.  No change.  I also tried that IP address (192.168.xx.xxx:8096) from a browser on another PC on the same LAN.  I got a "took too long to respond" message.

That confirms that something is most likely blocking it.

This is some sort of local network configuration issue that, unfortunately, we can't really help with but you need to be able to get to that IP.  I would continue to use a browser to test as you try different things as that will be easiest.

Please be sure you let us know what you find.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the help.  I have fixed it.  If you've ever watched the IT Crowd, I effectively "turned it off and on again".

I uninstalled the Emby app from my Roku and reinstalled it.  It then found the server and logged on just fine.

Or ...... the router knew that I was talking about it and decided to open up whatever it was being miserable about.
