some of the display settings for the web client don't seem to stick, for example:

settings > display >

- allow automatic season themes (it always seems to re-enable after unchecking the box)

- enable backdrops doesn't stay enabled, theme songs always re-enables, and get theme videos always re-enables.

i don't see a save function on the page...

EDIT - just noticed the video quality setting doesn't stick either....

stick = remain in place.

when i make the setting changes mentioned above they don't stay, they revert back to their previous settings.

You might see this if you're reloading or closing the page. Try just navigating away instead.

it happens when i close the browser and then relaunch the web client later, at another time, or reboot my pc, all of my settings are forgotten, is this normal behavior? if it is, is there any way to get the settings to stick (stay) when i do the aforementioned?

btw, i mentioned in my previous post that a "folder" category suddenly appeared on my homepage along with my other categories... after searching around in dashboard settings i found the setting that disables it.... thing is, why did it enable on it's own?

The folder option did not enable itself on it's own.  It is off by default.

yeah, that's a weird one, not sure how that happened, i didn't even know that setting section existed before i recently mined around in the dashboard settings in an effort to try to disable it... so how about the other settings i mentioned, is that just the way the emby client works, your settings only last for the duration of your session, then they're returned to default once you close your browser?

No they stick. See my notes above.

your notes say "You might see this if you're reloading or closing the page. Try just navigating away instead."

to me that sounds like the settings don't stick once you close a session, i.e. close the web client browser... is this the case?

They do stick.

did you get a chance to look at the vid i posted? what am i doing wrong? in the vid i adjusted the settings and rechecked them while in the same session, they stuck... but when i closed the browser / web client and reopened it the settings had returned to default, i.e. the settings i made were no longer there... so what am i doing wrong, how can i get the settings to stick when i reopen the web client?

so after banging my head against the wall it seems that the settings won't stick after closing and re-opening the etwc if you use the browser back button after making your changes instead of using the etwc back button... if you use the etwc back button (or the etwc home button i believe) to navigate back to the home page after making changes to the settings then they will be there after close and reopen the etwc, at least that's what seems to be happening... is this correct?

No, you can use the browser button. What you can't do is close or refresh the settings screen without first moving away. I wouldn't worry about it because with the next release if you try to do that you'll get a browser prompt letting you know there are unsaved changes.

well as can be seen in the vid i posted, i didn't refresh the setting screen after making the changes, in fact i didn't refresh the web client at all after making the changes, i simply navigated back to the home screen, closed the web client, re-opened it, and the setting had reverted back...

well that was short-lived, display settings have reverted back to defaults, alas..... i just don't get it.

I would suggest trying again with the next release. Thanks.

i'm starting to wonder if it's a chrome issue? maybe a browser history/privacy setting? i switched to edge to see if i could replicate the issue and i can't, all of the settings stick just fine no matter what you do, it just works.

i did notice that when i enable backdrops (settings > display > enable backdrops) a random background will show on the home screen, but when i navigate away from the home screen and then return a background no longer appears, i need to refresh the browser to see a random background again.

on a side note, i just have to say that emby is absolutely tremendous, it is far and away the best option for networked movies when comparing it to plex/kodi.... it's lightning fast, does a fantastic job identifying movies (metadata), is aesthetically beautiful out of the box, and can be lightly tweaked/edited if wanted... honestly, the more i play around with it the more thoroughly impressed i am!

Yes that will do it too. If browsing data is getting cleared then some settings will be lost.

I'm having a similar problem with Chrome, Firefox saves the settings though.

Also I take it that the settings are saved per browser as I see different settings depending on if I log in with Chrome or Firefox (I was trying to change the screensaver setting to influence the LG TV app but maybe it's only the "TV mode home screen" setting that is read by the LG TV app?)

Many settings are carried from app to app, but yes, some are specific to each app instance. Which ones in particular are you curious about? Thanks.
