is it possible to have et web client use potplayer as the player rather than the default player? potplayer offers some interesting settings that work with my cih 21:9 screen... thanks very much! btw, on a side note, et has seemed lightning fast recently, much quicker than i ever remember it being, kodi quick, non-server quick, is it because all of data is now cached? whatever it is, it's awesome!

Unfortunately web apps are not able to launch programs that are installed on the machine.

i guess that makes sense... if i use the windows desktop app, is it pretty easy to use an external player of your choice? that works seamlessly with et, i.e. as if it's the default player?

Hello,

I've already asked the same question.

My solution is to Install Kodi, then you can add an external player to play everything with PotPlayer.

You can also add an external player to Emby Theater, you just probably won't need it because the internal player can handle just about everything.

yes, that's what i'm discovering after living with emby for the past week, the internal player seems to work just fine... i was interested in an external player because of forced rez options and aspect ratios available, but have since found this can be done within windows' display settings, works great.... re kodi and an external player, in the past i've tried kodi with several different external players, including potplayer, and didn't find that it was a seamless experience, the player(s) never seemed part of kodi, which i didn't like... the only external player that worked perfectly with kodi (imo) was dsplayer, altho it was coded into a specific version kodi, it worked very well and also integrated madvr very well.

PotPlayer work fine too, you can also use MadVR or better: Smooth Video Project (SVP) but you'll need a strong graphic card...

potplayer and the other external players i tried with kodi just didn't seem to integrate nearly as well as dsplayer, but maybe i just set it up wrong, altho set up is pretty straightforward...i liked kodi, but after using it for a while decided i really didn't like the gui, regardless of what skin i tried, regardless of all of the tweaking i did to some of the skins, part of the prob was some of the addons just didn't work that well imo, or were too slow, like extended info... also, i just needed a front end for movies on my network, had no interest in the "illegal" addons or the other features kodi offered (music, tv, etc.)..

re madvr and svp, i'm done with muscle htpc boxes, no longer interested in a big box requiring a high-end video card, and the video card driver headaches, just to stream movies (i'm not a gamer)... a small box like a nuc, with external processing from a lumagen 3d (which can be had for around $300 bucks these days) is all i really need for my 1080p projector.... of course when 4k projectors become more reasonably priced it's back to the drawing board.
