livingonline8 3
We need a plugin that allows us to get the metadata from data18.com I know emby has a policy regarding published API "this is over my head since I have no idea about technical stuff" But, Other platforms such as plex and kodi are using data18 just fine. I browsed the forums here and this request was made so many times but Emby is still not listening to its audience. Seriously guys, the VHS era was booming because of porn...the DVD industry after that was booming because of porn.... the internet spread like fire because of porn back in early 90's Not having data18 metadata agent is holding emby back and gives the market share for Plex even on reddit the Plex subreddits are more alive than Emby...guess why? Porn Share !!! come on guys, you have to start listening to your audience and the market this is hurting you in terms of development and gaining market share and it is hurting us the users because it grows frustration among us and divides our media between you and Plex. This makes Plex the go to platform in terms of sharing and organizing and lately Plex has stepped up their game in terms of stable updates and UI changes Luke, Do something about this please
ebr 14905
Hi. We have the ability to allow adult only metadata plug-ins but we rely on third parties to develop and support them. It just isn't a high enough priority for the core development team at this time as we have many other things to focus on. We are happy to support a 3rd party developing this as long as it does follow our development guidelines. Those guidelines are in place for legal reasons. There needs to be an API because simply "scraping" data off of a web page is not only an extremely hard to support practice but also illegal in many contexts. I realize other products and communities choose to ignore this but my Momma always said "if all your friends are gonna jump off a cliff..." Thanks. 2
livingonline8 3
I actually dont know what to tell you !! if you dont see this as a priority then there is nothing i can say that can make business sense to you. historically, porn was the reason that enabled other platforms such as VHS, DVD & internet to boom and prosper. unfortunately, you have a different opinion. Anyway, it is your baby at the end and it is your business...I am not here to tell you how to run it....I was just trying to help and actually see Emby grow and gain more of the market share.
Luke 37029
Thank you for the feature request. We are actively monitoring this for support and feedback from your fellow community members. If you or anyone else would like to get started building this, please check out our wiki on server plugin development: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/wiki/How-to-build-a-Server-Plugin Thanks !
swallman 39
Working on switching over to Emby from Plex and this is one thing I would be missing. I'm a developer (old school) and would certainly be willing to take a stab at it but from what I understand the website to scrape from would have to support an API, correct? I wonder how the Plex add-on I'm using does it...
Luke 37029
Do they have an api, or do their terms of use allow pulling from the website?
unraidtest 0
Did anyone take this on? it is outside of my skillset and a shame as Plex handled it so well.

I'd suggest finding a metadata source that has an API that can be called. Then someone might implement it. MajesticMaerlyn 17
Not sure if this helps, but this scraper works perfectly in Plex, and the code is available at GitHub:https://github.com/PAhelper/PhoenixAdult.bundle

That program violates our Developer Policy as it scrapes web pages. Thanks.

Rockwoody 0
Hey, it’s already 2023. Is it possible to develop an adult plug-in? There is already a plug-in javtube on the Chinese Internet that can capture Asian adults. I hope emby official can develop a plug-in for searching European and American adults in 2024. Thank you. ebr 14905
Hi. This is not something we are interested in for the core but plug-ins that adhere to our policy (public or approved API - no scraping) are welcome as long as they are properly marked as Adult in the catalog.

I remember seeing postings that people created adult content metadata plugins already. No need to wait for core Emby to do it. Here is a recent example. Here is a Jellyfin one that is open source that can be made to work with Emby as well. Edited November 30, 2023 by BillOatman
