Guest asrequested
So I'm back to this old problem. Dropping thousands of frames when watching live tv.
Luke 36879
It's using the same electron version as 2.9.6. I'm waiting on an update before we can go back to the newer builds that we were using briefly in 2.9.7. I cant reproduce this but you can always stick to the builds from the testing thread if it wasn't an issue there.

I just checked
Guest asrequested
I'll try replacing it with 1.8.
Guest asrequested
That worked. I just unzipped 1.8.4 over the top.
Guest asrequested
I just downloaded the zip file from github. You've definitely got the old electron in that.
Luke 36879
1.8.4 will have animation performance issues on some systems but will be fine on others. 2.0 beta has corrected this but also results in the issue that daedalus reported on the settings screen. I think 2.0 is good to go once that is resolved.

Guest asrequested
Still dropping frames when in full screen. No where near as many, but still dropping frames. The test build that I've using has 1.8.2, so I'm going to try that instead of 1.8.
Guest asrequested
Giving 2.0.0 beta5 a whirl. Looking good, so far
Luke 36879
The screen will go black on the video settings page as well as emby connect sign in screen. if you can avoid those two then you should be fine with it.

Both are working just fine, for me. But are you realizing that you have electron 1.4.16 in the latest release?
Luke 36879
Yea that was by design for the reasons that i told you. Maybe the issue was on the audio settings page.
Guest asrequested
Yea that was by design for the reasons that i told you. Maybe the issue was on the audio settings page. Oh, right. I just tried all the settings pages, and they all work just fine. Every page, works. I just ran through them all. It's working like a champ, so far. I'll see what happens over time, and keep track of the electron updates. Still getting the second icon on the taskbar. Just thought I'd throw that in
kikinjo 161
@ could you be kind and point me where to unpack electron beta version. Live TV in ET is killing me, not working at all since start, but working completly fine in web app. Thought i could try with newer electron just to see is there any difference. Guest asrequested
I'm trying to remember the folder structure. I think it's emby-theater/system/64x/electron. Sorry, I'm away from my machine.
Senna 366
What do you mean with: ... not working at all since start... Since what ET version and on what kind of hardware ?
kikinjo 161
Since i started using ET as main client 3 months ago. Its starting but ET get frozen, spining, or channel starts after 5,10 minutes. HW is intel/nvida display hybrid, win 10. As i said web app no issues at all, stream starts fin in 2-3 secs, same hw.
Guest asrequested
That's likely to do with mpv not electron.
mtstuff 2
Try uncommenting the line app.disablehardwareacceleration(); in the main.js file. For me it's the only way to have smooth playback and no dropped frames in Live TV. Have to do that every time the file gets overwritten by an update though. BTW I'm still on 2.9.6 since I reverted from 2.9.7 because I had no video playback... don't really feel like updating...
Guest asrequested
I don't need to. The new electron releases, work well for me.
Guest asrequested
Bad news. Now the dropped frames have returned. I'll try replacing mpv, with the last lachs)r build, and see what happens
Guest asrequested
Well that's a bust. Seems I need to use the test build, again. I've tried various versions of electron, and two versions of mpv. It drops thousands of frames with live tv. I guess I'll have to manually update the components.
Guest asrequested
Here's something interesting. I just replaced mpv in the test build with shinchiro's latest, and I got the dropped frames, again. Using lachs0r's latest, it's fine. The version of electron is 1.8.3. Luke, maybe there's correlation between how you use electron in a given build and the version of mpv? speedingcheetah 39
3.0.0 restored Live TV playback for me. However, the Stats for Nerds says its dropping frames like crazy. No matter video settings.
