Incompatibilites with AS204-TE and Samsung Smart TV

Hello,

I'm a a Newbie to emby, so please go easy on me. I installed emby server version 3.2.25r1 from App Central, and the Samsung client Emby app for my smart TV. Everything looked fine until I asked the app on the TV to connect to the server, when it told me that my Emby Server needs to be updated. However, I can't find a later version I can install. The Asustor APKs  on this site are more recent (V 3.3.x) but they won't install as they are all 64 bit versions and my NAS is running a 32 bit OS.

Is there a way of getting a compatible version, and would my NAS be fast enough to serve adequately anyway?

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, it's actually Asustor that has been producing these, and I'm guessing that they must have stopped ever since we introduced our own. Unfortunately we don't yet have an arm package because we are working on resolving this issue with microsoft:

https://github.com/dotnet/core-setup/issues/3100

Are you able to ssh into the machine and update files? If yes then you should be able to install the Asustor version and then update over the top of it, although I've never done this before. If you're able to get into the machine, i can point you to our release download that you could unzip over it.

Hi Luke,

Thanks for the reply and offer of assistance. It is appreciated. Yes I can ssh into the machine, so if you provide me with the appropriate files I should be able to put them wherever I need to within the file system. However, you've confused me by mentioning arm and sending me a link to issues with building .NET on armel architecture. The AS204-TE uses an Intel atom processor - not arm. Also, it runs busybox (possibly an Asustor customised  version), so, some of the usual shell commands might not be present

the response to $ file /bin/busybox

is

/bin/busybox: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked, interpreter /lib/ld-linux.so.2, for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=831fe7e5978e28ba6b2529ba206af1cc715e4c12, stripped

hopefully that is sufficient information to enable you to send me the appropriate files and instructions.

Sorry I misread. For x86 it's the same situation. Essentially for any architecture that microsoft is not providing an official runtime for, we have having a hard time building it manually ourselves.

Ok so after installing the Asustor version, download this file:

https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases/download/3.3.1.0/Emby.Mono.zip

Locate the asustor installation folder that contains the same files, and unzip the contents into it and overwrite the files. But very important - do not overwrite the four files with .config extensions.
