Android app - No compatible streams are available.

Server 3.3.1.0

App 2.9.92

When I try to play anything with the android app outside my home network, I get a "No compatible streams available..." error. This does not happen when I play from the browser on the same phone. I haven't had this problem before, although it's been a while since I've used Emby outside of the home network.

Couldn't find any logs where "How to report a problem.." described it would be so I hope a server log is sufficient.

Thanks

Looks like there may be an SSL certificate problem.  Does it work over plain http?

Yes, it does work when I unticked the "Require HTTPS for external connections" box.

I forgot to mention that I recently restored my phone to factory settings and this is the first time I tried to access my Emby server away from home since then.

Ok, I think we may need to do some ssl configuration with the video player we're using. We'll look into it, thanks.

Hello

I am experiencing a similar issue.

I have been using SSL from GoDaddy with nginx

After upgrading this week.

I can access without ssl from roku, android app, webapp (chrome, firefox).

I cannot access with ssl from roku, android app. Webapp (chrome, firefox) still works over ssl I can also access from chrome for android, just not the Emby App from the Play store.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I'm expierencing the same issue on my QNAP TS-877 while using an SSL Cert from Let's Encrypt

- I can connect to the server with my Samsung Galaxy S8+ with the app and browser.

- I can stream videos from my playlists over Chromecast to my TV.

- It's not possible to play the videos on my Smartphone itself.

When I connect to the app without SSL, everything works fine, just not as secure...

Logs will follow later

Also using a letsencrypt cert and nginx. Having trouble with my Roku client at the moment failing to play over https. Will test with http to see if I can replicate what the other users are experiencing.

So.. Can I please be schooled on how this works..
not sure if I have compounded two issues

I happened to renew my ssl certificate at the same time I upgraded my Emby Version (I know bad idea).

I have reverted to a previous snapshot I had of Emby from 2 months ago and expected that version to not get the "no compatible streams error", but it is.

Is this same behavior possible out of older versions of Emby?

Just confirmed the reverting back to http fixed all playback issues I was having. Seems to be some major SSL issues with Emby right now. I'm not really sure how I should proceed at this point

the android app issue is isolated and limited to just a few device manufacturers. we'll look at it for the next release of the app, thanks.

Does anyone not use the offline downloading feature? If you don't use the feature then please try this build:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/2iwndxa3msr8dn7/MediaBrowser.Mobile-googlearmv7-release.apk?dl=0

If you do use the feature then please just wait without installing this because there are other in-progress changes that will prevent it from working. thanks.

Just wanted to add that my wife and I are both seeing this issue on our galaxy note 8 phones with android oreo. I noticed it post the new emby server version upgrade, but it could have been happening sooner as I don't personally watch on my phone all that often. Emby seems to play just fine on all other devices.

Thanks for the report. Please try again with the next release of the app. Thanks.

I am running on latest version of android Emby app v2.9.92 and Emby Media server v3.4.1.0 on Debian via https using a LetsEncrypt certificate and stream is always failing to start when using the Emby android app. I do not understand why because logging does not complain about failing. When using chrome browser on the same mobile device everything works fine. I am not sure how to continue to make the app work.

If required, test accounts are available.
