Hi, After updating to beta server 3.3.1.5 I found that the android app (2.9.92) will no longer playback over an external connection. I get a msg on the phone saying "no compatible streams were found..."

Server log attached, there seems to be an issue with a certificate... I have re-installed the beta server but no difference.

Also, the notifications tab in the server dashboard is blank - error msg in log points to an sqlite issue.

thanks

Connected phone to the LAN, changed the server address to 10.0.0.8:8096 and it (the same item) plays just fine.

What kind of cert do you have? have you checked to make sure it's not expired?

self generated, supposedly valid until 2020 I think.

Anyway, to eliminate the cert, I switched my phone back to 4g and enabled wi-fi hotspot. Connected my surface pro to it and connected to the server WebUI (chrome) via my external address - https://xxxxxx.xxx.xxx:8921 which is the same address as I use with the Android app.

I selected the same file and it plays fine. I think that this discounts the certificate being expired.

self signed certs dont work with some apps. So testing the surface using the web app wouldnt really make any difference, if anything its still pointing to your cert being the issue.

If you use the web app on your Android device does it play the file fine?

for example the Roku's wont play any file if your using a self signed cert.

Well, before the update to beta 3.3.1.5, Android app was playing everything just fine via https over 4g - I have not used the webui via my phone because of this always working. However since you asked, I tried - strange thing is, it will not connect to the server this way either on Chrome or FF ??? just sits there doing nothing. I'm not sure I understand why...

have you updated android OS recently?

Now its not working at all with a browser on your Android device, does it work from a desktop device browser? Also clear the browser cache on android see if that makes any difference. Is HTTP still working? What do you have emby server installed on? If windows check that the firewall is open on the HTTPS port, i've had Windows updates cause issues before.

Hey sorry i took a while to respond... Been busy with life stuff.

I only use emby externally infrequently and accordingly am/was reluctant to purchase the necessary stuff - Domain Name, SSL Cert etc - especially as it was working well beforehand. Anyway, I have now purchased a Domain Name and SSL Cert through NoIP. Am now waiting for it to be approved and the cert supplied.

Any suggestions on anything else I need to do or configure?

thanks

From Emby's point of view just the cert.

Hi @Luke.

When I updated to 3.3.1.5 beta, the Notifications db became corrupt. I did report this in my topic regarding external connections failing. For whatever reason, you didn't respond to that part and I chose to wait for the next update... After installing 3.3.1.6 beta I still have a corrupt Notifications Db. How can I fix it?

thanks

Try deleting the notifications.db file.

@Luke, After obtaining and installing a RapidSSL certificate, I find I still have the same problem, Emby for Android will not playback anything - still getting the "No compatible steams are currently available..." msg.

edit, have re-installed Emby for Android but no luck

3.3.1.7 beta installed, still no playback over external 4g via https in Android app.

Connection to server is very quick and can navigate libraries - just get spinning circle in android app (still spinning after 5 mins) but no playback.

Server dashboard shows android app is connected and briefly shows the video image as if it were playing but there is no ffmpeg log created and nothing plays. No errors in server log...

server log attached.

Ok, it's an issue in the app that is specific to just a few manufacturers, yours being one of them. We'll look to address it soon, thanks.
