All mappings are correct I have even tried to map guide of channels I don't use to see will it have data but nothing. Server is not doing something correctly when it is importing not sure why other people are not experience it. I had this issue since day one but you only see it if the scheduled task has recently be done and it doesn't do it all the time. I have put back uploading from a file as this stuffs up the recordings using a url.

Regarding the original issue of the massive Temp folder size whenever I switched the url to .xml from .xml.gz  it stopped blowing up that much, now my folder is under 50MB, where before it was the xml file size * # of channels, so it was about 800 times duplicated on the 25-30mb xml file every time the EPG refresh was ran.

I have not tried it with the .gz but I can try again if you wish, I still have Emby Server Version 3.3.1.0

So Sorry Luke It's not emby fault there isn't data for something that is just on. I just had a very thorough check by searching for shows that are on now and there isn't data and probable the reason why it occurs at night is that movies are on or longer length episodes. Both of these showings I was able to find on the guide data. I will email icetv why is this.

@@Luke

I see the same issue after setting up Live TV on Version 3.5.2.0 ubuntu 16.04

24G    /var/lib/emby/cache/temp/

Can it be fixed ? (thinking maybe this is how it should be?!)

Here is my guide URL http://www.teleguide.info/download/new3/xmltv.xml.gz

What is really interesting that even after removing all settings for Live TV in Emby the dir  /var/lib/emby/cache/temp/ was not cleaned.

Mmmmm I guess this is still an issue in the latest beta

I noticed this morning my /cache/temp folder was over 100GB

I just removed it and recreated the folder from command line in windows. I can probably create a batch file to do this daily.

So this is an issue with .xml.gz files?

Is this why Emby takes sometimes an hour or more to refresh the guide? I also use the same epg source as the original poster.

Was this sorted in the end?

I've just noticed that my /cache/temp folder is 26GB and the space appears to be taken by thousands of xmltv files.

We are working on improving that, thanks.

I can confirm what has been said in this thread... it downloads the entire EPG per channel available.  I just decided to remove all my Live TV config and redo it all.  I am currently watching this in the logs and the folder is already 5GB.

So this issue has not been fixed yet on the latest beta yet?

What I ended up doing is creating a batch file to empty the folder daily. I just created a schedule for it

@@Luke, I've just noticed something which may or may not be related to the issue.  In my /cache/xmltv there is a .xml file which obviously is meant to be the EPG data.

However, the file isn't actually a .xml file.  It is a .gz file so in order to actually open it, I have to extract it first.  Is Emby incorrectly saving the downloaded XMLTV file as .xml when it should keep the original downloaded suffix of .xml.gz?  Is it then having to extract it for each channel because it cannot just read the .xml file stored in the /cache/xmltv folder?

/Edit: I have confirmed that this is what is happening. I removed all my Live TV configuration and re-applied it.  Whilst the process was going on, I quickly swapped out the file in /cache/xmltv with the extracted version.  The /cache/temp folder had already reached 600mb by the time I did it, but it stopped growing and I could still see folders being added to it as the channels were processed.

@@Luke, should be a fairly straight forward fix :)

@@josemiel25. given what I have found above, until this is sorted, you are better off downloading and extracting the XMLTV data yourself and pointing Emby to that file :)

/Edit2: Refreshing the guide is so so so much faster now as well... I am doing the download and extract myself :D
