Help setting up Emby for Kodi in native mode

This is a follow up to my earlier post on this topic.

I was previously using Emby for Kodi in add-on mode and would like to try it out in native mode. However, each time I try to sync, I receive the following error: "Kodi can't locate file . . . . You may need to verify your network credentials in the add-on settings or use the Emby path substitution to format your path correctly..."

I use my Windows desktop with an external hard drive connected via USB as my server. The external hard drive is shared over my home network. I have verified that my network credentials are correct, and I added an Optional Network Path in my movies library in my dashboard. Neither of these corrected the problem.

Help!

Can we have the path to one of your Kodi library?

server dashboard > library > select library > Folders (click), what is the path/optional network path?

Also is your Kodi on Android?

Here's the path:

G:\Vids\Movies\

\\ACER-DESKTOP\Vids\Movies

Again, my media is stored on an external hard drive connected via USB. It's mapped to my Windows OS as the G: drive.

I'm using Kodi on a Fire Stick.

Thanks so much for offering to help.

Instead of using \\ACER-DESKTOP\ use the ip address assigned. Then try to sync, does it work then?

Will give that a try. Question: does IP address include the port?

I wonder if this issue is related - Kodi doesn't seem to be able to spot any of my Windows SMB shares.

I've managed to solve the problem. I think the issue was that Kodi wasn't able to access my server. I discovered this after trying to add the server manually in Kodi, and I kept hitting a dead end. I eventually changed a few settings in Windows and was finally able to get Kodi to recognize my server. After that, I setup Emby for Kodi again, and it's finally detecting the files.

Whew!

The main issue was to ensure that password protected file sharing was disabled. After that, I used the server IP address instead of the server name when adding the network credentials.
