Android Mobile - Please, improve the "now playing" music screen

Currently, the "now playing" music screen is so... simple, the album art, at least in my case, is too small, all my music have the album art with a minimum resolution of 500x500, also the song name and artist name is too simple, this is how it looks so far:

5aa0c81b6d77b_nowplayingscreenoriginal.p

and this is how it should look, I know it's not a good representation but it's a clear idea:

5aa0c8aec0b39_nowplayingscreensuggested.

The bitrate is to have an idea of the quality of the song, whether if it's played directly or transcoded and it can have an option in settings to be shown always or only when transcoded.

I count on your upvote for Emby developers to take this suggestion into account. Thanks.

i find it odd that i cant get back to "now playing" (the ui wont launch) when clicking on the notification and there is no stop button on the notification.

indeed if the app ui has been exited, the notification "now playing" is orphaned from the app when app is relaunched.

Yup, agreed we need to improve this.

But about the notification, media apps on android don't typically have a stop button in the notification.

They don't, but the behavior is different. I have noticed this, but have a hard time figuring it out exactly.

In emby, to be able to dismiss the notification I have to go in the app and press stop. In other apps, I believe just pausing the media I can then dismiss the notification.

This is something we need to support, yes.

To add to this too, how about the most recent queue being re-loaded when the app is launched?

Example - listening to an album on headphones through the app. At some point pause the album and quit the app.

Later on, open the app to cast music to some speakers, the queue loads and if I press play the album picks up from where I left off (ideally even resuming the song from where it was paused but it's not a deal breaker).

If it can already do this then I apologize!

I spotted a new OSD redesign in the Web App, I just hope the album art and artist information get redesign similar to my suggestion as well...

A new suggestion with the new redesign:

Or the same new redesign but adding the transcoding information:

Thanks for the feedback. We're kind of struggling for space but maybe we can work that in somewhere.

Yeah, I figured that, maybe if you move the album art a little bit to the top like I did in the first example or move the buttons a little bit to the bottom like I did in the second example can work it out, the "Transcoding to" information is very useful because we don't have to go to "Manage Emby Server" in order to know the transcoding reason anymore.

I've also seen the album art is aligned with the top, left and right margins of the phone so the "back" and "cast" buttons can float over the picture, you can also save more space by putting more buttons floating the album art like the "heart" and "repeat" buttons.

This forum doesn't let me re-upload and replace the picture it in the above comment:

There are a lot of music apps and with that, a lot of inspiration to be had for a great music player design.  As someone, somewhere once said, "good artists copy, great artists steal".  ;)

What interests me the most is the "transcoded to" message, it's like a little "stats for nerds" for music...

Another design suggestion, I like this one better than the others, what do you think?

And let's not forget the full screen mode, where the album art is bigger, a perfect example to use the floating buttons:

Or keep the buttons and drop the "transcoded to..." line. It's nice to have that info somewhere, but it doesn't need to be in such a prominent position. It could just be something that you have to click a button to see.

You can add an option in settings to show/hide that information permanently, anyway, whatever it's best to keep it as minimalist as possible without leaving the now playing screen anymore to check on that info; videos has its own "stats for nerds", music shouldn't be left behind.

...and drop the "transcoded to..." line.

You can also add an icon indicating the song is played directly or transcoded, it could turn red when transcoding or viceversa or just show the bitrate, bit depth and frequency as my initial suggestion (128Kbps/44,1Khz/16bits).

drop the "transcoded to..." line.

What about a 'stats for nerds' menu similar to the video player showing the original media info (bitrate, codec, container, that sorta thing), what it's being transcoded to and the reason?

Yes, that would be cool too!, but to be interested in that information, at least we must be informed first that the song is getting transcoded, otherwise I don't see the point of taking a look to that info for a direct playback, right?.

For example, with an icon indicating a transcoding is in progress, if we tap on it, it could lead us directly to the "stats for nerd" of that song.

The "transcoded to" could also be replaced by the file info, like AIMP does:
