I just rebooted my system and Theater may have updated not sure but I no longer get the Overlay while playing a video. Any ideas would be great.

I have never used video backdrop so I not certain that I have done it correctly. I have created a folder called backdrops and put a video file inside the folder. When I enter the movie the video file is shown. Not in the background, but in the foreground. no overlay.
The main movie doesn't have the overlay either.

Hi Luke, came here from the thread I created (sorry didn't see this one)
I created a backdrop video for one of my movies, works fine in the web client and a machine I have where Theater is working ok 2.9.7
On the problem machine, the backdrop video causes the same completely black screen to display, and I can hear the audio, so exactly the same behaviour as any video I try to play.
As for video drivers being up to date, they weren't, but are now. Latest from Intel, released this month, no change in behaviour.
Happy to tinker with anything else if you need me to.

Audio but no video. I can manage to get the video if I activate the OpenGL high profile in video settings. But my laptop is not powerful enough for this profile. The playback is not fluid.
My desktop computer with a Gtx-1050ti does not have this issue. Standard and high OpenGL profile works perfectly.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this thread. Think my issues started around Feb 27. Didn't realize my black screen issue was an overlay problem. I also have a intel hd4000 gpu but it is on my desktop mobo. So far I've updated my video drivers, made sure Win 10 is fully updated, fully uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of EMBY Theatre, and even reinstalled the latest version of EMBY Server (even thought this doesn't seem like a server issue). I'll try upping the OpenGL settings when I get home today as suggested by rouq but I'm worries about getting similar playback issues. Let you know how that goes when I try.

I haven't updated my video drivers, so I know it's not that. I don't want to upgrade them as this might break HDR metadata with madvr. Emby have worked with these driver for a long time, so I don't believe that's the issue. Also it going across manufacturers of gpu's.

For me, on 2.9.7 on the 1st video I play, auto video framerate changing works and when I stop the video, the display switches back to the original framerate. However upon playing the next video (after stopping) the auto framerate changer no longer works anymore until I exit Emby and start it again.
Back on 2.9.6 works fine and have reverted since. Please rectify this as well, thanks.
