Tuners not found in Server 3.3.10

Yesterday was not a good day. WMC wouldn't tune a tuner and would either say, "No tuner available" or "Video Driver not compatible with protected content" or some other error..

I reset tuners in HDHR Config, rebuilt the database in epg123 and thought I restored my custom channel numbers in GuideTool. I got WMC to tune but the guide has the "stock" Charter Spectrum channel numbering whic I can tediously fix. I then reloaded my channels in ServerWMC for use in EmbyDVR.

In the Emby Server Dashboard under Live TV I just a spinner. I cannot play LiveTV in client apps. Log to come soon.fbc70ec635cb615c7e65bd69d89ee3c0.jpg

Try refreshing the guide in emby server.

I would but I cannot get anything to show on that page. It is just a spinner so I cannot select "Refresh Guide Data"

I went in in a remote session and downloaded the installation package for Emby Server from your website. I had to run the setup elevated as ad.administrator to get the installer to run. Still no LiveTV, just a spinner on that page in the Server Dashboard.

Sammy, I believe Luke's suggestion is to run the scheduled task...

I'm sure I've asked you this before, but if you have a TV tuner that Emby can support natively without a plugin then you can do away with all of this troubleshooting by just using the built-in features. It's painful for us when we have to troubleshoot connections to external software, and by the sounds of it I'm sure it's been painful for you as well.

This keeps things congruent between WMC and Emby though and has been working well for a very long time.

At any rate here's the log and some screen grabs..

Make sure ServerWMC is up and operational.

Just saw this. Yes it was one of the first things I checked. I even loaded the WMC Channels again.

Please restart swmc and then post its log after a failed attempt to play something.  When its there, tag me again in this thread.

I have good news. LiveTV in Emby Server has now loaded tuners and the guide from ServerWMC. I think Chrome on my HTPC is borked somehow but when I did it from a different login on the same HTPC it worked real fast whereas on the HTPC login Chrome is running slow for all webpages. This is my issue I believe.

At any rate, what is the typical channel load time? On my shield it takes about 1 to 2 seconds for the guide to load and then another 4 to 6 seconds for a channel to begin playing. Is this expected? Can it be sped up somehow?

My HTPC is a Devil's Canyon i5 4690k with 12Gb RAM and a Samsung SSD 850 Pro boot drive on which Emby Server runs.

Thanks.

The guide display time is more of an emby thing, but I think you can reduce it by limiting the number of channels you send on to emby.  Fyi, you can configure serverwmc so it only send a subset of channels to on to emby, I set mine to send only the channels I normally watch which is about 7 out of like 600.

The channel play time is just the nature of the beast.  If your tuner supports it, you can experiment with having serverwmc use DLNA mode for emby (but I don't recall it being much faster).

There is also emby's native mode (I have no idea how fast that is).

I have two Silicon Dust HDHR Prime Tuners, first Generation. Once I get some more kinks worked out it is highly likely that we will have an antenna on the roof or in the attic with their new Connect Quad Tuners. I'm experimenting with YoutubeTV and Sling right now to fill in some of the CaTV gaps.. I also just scored a Amazon FireTV for $35 (Pay the first month of subscription with DirectTV Now and they send a "free" FireTV) so I'll be checking out what DirectTV Now has to offer.

At any rate, these tuners are DLNA but I don't think they transcode. Also, I had a lot of channels disabled using GuideTool and I'm working to fix that at this time too. What page is this on in ServerWMC? That may be the quickest. Does it respect changes in WMC if one reloads the channels? I like to re-number my channels to better suit us.

Thanks!

No screenshots as it does play, just a spinner for a bit waiting for it to load. I believe that the ShieldTV direct plays whereas Roku requires transcoding (The Roku would by last night about 7:30 if it even shows up in this log). I tuned on ET on the same HTPC as the Emby Server and on the ShieldTV at about 5:30 this morning (all times PST but I think the log is in local time zone and not GMT).

Here it is..

Not uploading. I'll try again in a bit.

Yes, serverwmc respects user channel renumbering, but it does require you to restart serverwmc to see the changes.  You also may need to wait a while before the changes bubble through the emby database, but it will happen eventually :).

If you want to restrict the channels that you send to emby, unfortunately it doesn't show up on serverwmc's gui (too lazy), instead you have to edit its config file.  In wmc create a channel group (in wmc its called 'favorites') of the channels you want to send to emby, just as an example name the group EmbyFav.  Then in serverwmc's settings file, look for the section called ClientRestrictions and edit it as follows:

<ClientRestrictions>
    <ClientRestriction>
      <Client>Emby^</Client>
      <RestrictChannels>RestrictToGroups</RestrictChannels>
      <RestrictRecordings/>
      <Groups>EmbyFav</Groups>
    </ClientRestriction>
  </ClientRestrictions>
