Hi guys so I recently installed an Emby server on my Macbook Pro. On that computer I have no problem connecting to the server. If I go on any other device within the same network I am unable to connect to the server. On my andriod device the app shows the server, I select it, but then get the message "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." If i try to enter the local url in a web browser within the same network on a different computer I get "This site can’t be reached 127.94.0.1 refused to connect."

Any thoughts?

Hi Luke, thanks for the response!

I have gone through all of the trouble shooting steps. In network connections only work for my Macbook that is running the server. On other computers or through the Android app the server is detected but fails to connect. I have tried to manually enter the server and that fails as well. All are on the same wifi and I have the firewall turned off on my Macbook that is running the server. I opened the local port on my router and that does not make a difference as well.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Unfortunately I'm not sure at this point, but it seems as though something is blocking the traffic. Do you know the macbook ip address? What if you try connecting manually using that address, as opposed to the detected address?

I am having this same issue. I have gone through the connection guide. Nothing seems to work. i have done the port forwarding. I am at a total loss of what to do. I have tried to access from inside and outside the network with the same results.

I have never been able to connect to my Mac based Emby server via the localhost address (127.94...). What I would try is to assign your MacBook pro a static IP or find out what ever dynamic IP your router has assigned to it (usually 192.168.... or 10.7.....) and try connecting to the server via a web browser on a different computer using this format to include the default port number at the end of the address (192.168.1.1:8096). At least then you will know for sure that your server is up and running properly on your local network.

Forgot to mention, I also installed this on a windows machine. And still had the same issue. I am assuming its a network issue, but not sure how, within the network it should not have to go through a firewall. I have checked and double checked everything. I searched through the forums and tried different things. Nothing works.

Alright, I had the exact same issue. I am running OpenDNS and DNSCrypt on my MacPro. The local address which Emby was giving me was the DNS server address on my Mac. I used the local address to my machine and it then connected to the libraries that I have set-up. You will have to go to System Prefences>Network and then input the machine address to whereever you are trying to open the Emby library from.

Hopefully this helps!
