Thanks. Based on the characteristics of that video I'm wondering if we just need to transcode it.

Plex on Xbox one s/x just released an update, 4k HDR and dolby atmos are working in direct play. When emby will be fixed on with HDR and Dolby Atmos in direct play?

I read a couple posts in the forum where it says MS just unlocked Atmos and 4K HDR for third party streaming apps in their most recent OS release for the XB1.  This is good news.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents. Trying to leave Plex. I'm having the green screen issue as well. It doesn't matter which movie, which audio file, subtitles or no, I can't get any of them to play. *note* not all give the green screen, but none play. LG TV, XBOX ONE X. Most of them work fine on plex. I'm not sure if they direct play or not, but, according to this thread it sounds like they are transcoding.

My XB1X direct plays 4K HDR using Emby app, it just displays it in SDR.

Just paid to find out that Emby cannot play 4K HDR on my XBOX ONE X. All the HEVC 4K video basically play as a green screen for whatever reason.

Hmm, was tempted to get an Xbox One X over a shield... This may prevent me...

any updates? does DTS / Atmos / HDR work?

The Shield is probably a better choice for streaming media right now, supports a lot more formats including those you mentioned.

No yet on Emby but Plex on xbox one is fixed..

Plex still has problem with HDR content. Can only play for 30 seconds or so then just keep buffering and transcoding.

Luke, is this HDR issue is going to be fixed any time soon? I'm paying premium account because to get 4k HDR on xbox one and can't use it.

Plex forum just post an official response saying there is a platform bug on Microsoft side that keeps 4K HDR video from playing normally. No ETA on when or if it will be fixed.

Yea platform defects on UWP are unfortunately a regular thing.

Is HDR pass through something Emby is still working on to make it happen on XBOX ONE?

Yes but at this point we have to wait for that platform defect to be resolved.

I'm keen to see this fixed as well. Is there any word from MS as to when the defect will be fixed yet?
