Sending message from server

Hello,

I've been testing emby with a Roku Streaming Stick+ and sending messages from the server is not possible. Basically the message is not shown. Is this a known issue?

Also forcing direct-stream from the server, some subtitles are starting with 1-2s delay.

Thanks!

Hi, what, exactly do you mean by "Not possible"?  Is the option not available or nothing happens when you do it or what?

I have the option, I can send the message but nothing happens on the roku device.

Hi.  I just tested this and it worked fine.  Where are you in the app?  Is the user remote or local?

The method of sending messages we're using can be fragile and prone to the roku closing the connection. We will need to supplement this with cloud based push notifications in order to ensure it will work all of the time.

I've tested again, and also tried to send over 20 messages, none of them work.

Also I don't believe it works on out of network Rokus. Possibly if the correct ports are forwarded on the Roku's network.

Right, I think for now it just won't work in all situations. Push notifications are going to be the only way to make it just work all of the time, well assuming an internet connection at least.

Tried this on a Roku 2 (in network) while using the Message Icon on the Emby Dashboard in the Android App but nothing actually displayed on-screen for the roku
