Unable to install 3.0.140

I got a notice a new version was available and hit ok to update, it closed the cmd prompt flashed and that was it.  When I start mbc again it tells me a new update is available and does it again.  Going to uninstall and re-install from the website and see if that works.  Just a heads up if anyone else runs into that problem.

The update process can take a few minutes and, unfortunately, in some circumstances, the status window does not show.  If you just wait until MBC re-starts automatically, everything should be fine.

I hope to improve this but I haven't been able to nail down why the status window disappears.

Your problem is exactly what I had stated before.  Something in your network is caching so aggressively it is delivering the old msi to you when we try to download the new one.  The source file is different and has a different name but whatever is caching must be keying off of the target file name instead.

Have you tried unplugging your router for a couple of minutes and then starting it back up?

I'd love to know what it is in the chain that is causing this.  The other person that had this problem took the machine to another house and it updated there.

my cable modem is configured as brigde i have no router in my network so i don't know why this is happening , i can update the server but not the client so i don't think

its a caching problem.

is there an offline installer so i could update to the new version.

So, have you tried shutting down the cable modem to clear it out?  Something is caching the old download somewhere because you are requesting 140 and getting the 137 msi.  The fact it isn't happening for the server isn't really relevant.  When I've seen this occur is when two versions go out pretty close together and I've only seen it happen to one or two other people.  Again, the one I went through the whole process with solved it by taking the same machine to another network connection, so that pretty much indicates it is some sort of cache issue.

There isn't one right now.  If we really can't figure this out then I can find a way to get it to you but I really want to know what is going on here so we can help people solve the real issue.

If you can find any time to shut down your cable modem for a few minutes today, please report back.  Thanks.

I already tried that also I took my machine to my neighbor to a different network it didn't solve the problem same thing version 137 is downloaded instead of 140.

@@ebr, recall I had this problem too a few versions ago. Nothing helped. No new IP, no router reset, nothing. (btw a home router does not cache content, ever). I just let it lie and skipped the upgrade. Then came the subsequent version, and lo and behold - upgrade went smooth.

(I now have a problem upgrading to 141 but it's a different one so it needs a separate thread)

EDIT: the other install problem with 141 resolved - thanks ebr - but it changed to being this problem, again. So I do have this problem, with 3.0.141.0.

EDIT 2: ... and then came 3.0.142.0. Installs well, problem gone.
