Hi,

I use the Emby app on the new Shield TV Pro 2019 and I would like to have this screensaver feature while a video (not Live TV) is paused.

I use the pause very often (sometime for several tens of minutes) and I would like to limit as much as possible the burn-in on my OLED TV.

The auto log off feature is not a convenient solution in my opinion.

Do you plan to add this feature someday?

Thank you for your great work with Emby Sever and Emby Apps !

Hi.  It is possible for the future but, if you are going to pause for that long, why not just back out?

I can use the auto log off for very long pause. But it usually does not last more than 15 minutes, and multiples times during a movie.

So it's faster to resume playback than log on. And the screensaver could start automatically after 5 minutes (the minimum time parameter of the Shield TV).

Hi.  You don't need to logoff.  Just back out to the detail screen (or whatever screen you were on) and then  you can resume playback from there with a single button click.

Resume the playback from the detail screen take some seconds to load.

Resume the playback from a pause video is instantaneous.

It wouldn't be if we allowed the screen saver to kick in.

The Android screen saver is just another Android app.  So, when it starts, what happens is our app is sent to the background - which means it is now available to be shut down entirely by the system if needed.  So, if we allow the screen saver to start, we would need to stop the video entirely anyway.

What could solve the issue you are really trying to solve, though, would be for us do something inside the app like dim the screen way down after a prolonged period of pause...

Yes, dim is a solution, or why not add a screensaver feature in the Emby app?

@ebr @Luke Just checking to see if this was implemented? Planning on switching back to using the Shield as my Emby App instead of the internal LG App.

No, we have not added a custom screen saver to the app at this time.

Thanks.

Just adding a +1 to this request.

Those of us still rocking plasma (or OLED) have to contend with image retention/burn-in.

If I were the only user in the household, simply backing out of playback wouldn't be an issue. But getting other users in the house (especially those either smaller or less technical) to do this consistently is more problematic that it may seem.
