Ripped DVD Subtitle issue in Roku Client

I noticed an issue with subs in DVD's (ripped to HDD in DVD format - VIDEO_TS folder).

Playing DVD's ripped to my HDD - subs not showing up, not even listed as having subs! This happens with Fruitvale Station and Haunter.

Using the web client I can both choose subs and display them fine, but the Roku client (official release) doesn't even list them for selection. I haven't tried other DVD's yet (other than Pans Labrynth, which subs worked ok) because most of my rips are BR.

Since subs display fine in the web client I'm not sure what other info I can provide.

Pans Labrynth works in the web client it should work with roku.

Can you please force refresh (in the dashboard metadata editor)  the other two you are having issue with and post the Media Info from library explorer

Thanks

I'm having trouble doing this. I have tried to follow the instructions, but it's not working as I think it should (I.E. 11, MB Server Version 3.0.5171.19958).

Best way

1. Open  http://localhost:8096/mediabrowser/dashboard/advanced.html

(replace localhost with your ip if necessary). - I did this.

Enable Developers tools and debug logging using the checkboxes. - There is only debug logging. There is no Developers tools

2. Right click on the mb server icon in the quick launch area and select Library Explorer - What icon??? The only one I see that might be it is located in the top most left corner. Anyway, anything I right click on only opens a context menu for cut, copy, paste, fill forms, etc., etc. Nothing about opening Library Explorer.

3. Navigate to the movie or video in the left hand pane - What page am I supposed to be in here? The metadata page?

4. Select everything in the right hand pane and paste it into a text file - If I am in the correct page, the only info is Path, Name, critics ratings, Awards summary, etc. I don't think this is the info you're looking for.

Its a little out of date at the moment.

Icon in the quick launch area on your taskbar near the clock on the right hand side, not in the web dash. (it maybe hidden click the little up arrow)

Once you have the library explorer open points 3 and 4 will be obvious.

2. If you run MBS as a service you will not have an icon in the task bar.  You will need to stop the MBS service and launch MBS via the icon.

Oh, ok. I'm used to that being called Windows System Tray, that's why I didn't think to look there. I'm not that quick sometimes.

Hmm the mI says there are subs there is no reason why the roku wouldn't list them. I cannot repo that on any dvd rip on my system. Does it only happen on those two or are there more which exhibit the same behaviour ?

Most of my current rips are Bluray, which do not exhibit this issue.

As for DVD's, in addition to the two I mentioned, today I checked Paranoia, and it also shows no sub selection option (though if I play it through the web client, I can select subs).

My DVD rip of "The Artist" does let me select subs, but those are actually closed captions, since the actual subs are burned into the movie (it's a silent movie).

Tonight I checked a few more DVD's played through the Roku:

Casa de mi Padre only plays the DVD menu, not the movie (I was pretty surprised to see a DVd menu on the screen. couldn't select anything of course)

Paranoia does not play. It shows the progress bar go all the way but does not proceed from there.

Side Effects (Movie) - Same as above.

OK. Funny that Bluerays seem to play mostly without problems, except for subs. Shows how much I know about either.

So I need to remember to convert DVDs with makemkv first!
