By older, what year are we talking? Or what model number?

Any non-Tizen model is what I meant.  But specifically I have UN55ES7100F (6 years old ish?) and UN32J5500AF (1.5 years old ish).

J = 2015   Are you sure it's Orsay.?  I know some entry level models were in 2015, but the developers site lists that as Tizen model for some reason

Edit: the users manual I just downloaded from the Canadian support site also says your J5500 is Tizen

I bought a TV for mom this past year and its a Tizen. Its user interface and mine are totally different.  I'll go check again, but I was sure its not. Let's hope I am wrong!  Thanks Frostbyte!!

No problem, hopefully what I'm seeing is correct and you can load the USB version on yours also.

Your TV is listed below in the 2015 STANDARD2 group as Tizen

https://developer.samsung.com/tv/develop/specifications/tv-model-groups

Also, on page 12 of the users manual I linked to on the Canadian Samsung page earlier it mentions Tizen

The Tizen OS has changed some since Tizen 2.3 which is what your J5500 should be running according to what I'm looking at.  So, that could be why it looks different than your mom's TV.

@Luke can correct me if things have changed, but as far as your 2012 ES goes I'm going to say there is no way even if Samsung was still accepting Orsay app updates from Emby.  Samsung TVs older than 2014 don't support css flex without an evolution kit.  I've tried it several times with my SEK2000 removed and nothing lines up correctly.

Edit: BTW the unofficial app was recently updated by SamES to v2.2.6 and should work on your 2012 ES.

@@FrostByte Thanks a bunch!

So you are saying I can get an unsupported version of Emby app on the older Samsung?  What is SamES? Is the the OS on the TV or the unsupported Emby app?  Where do get it? I did a quick www search and only thing I found was VLC version 2.2.3.

SamES is an Emby developer who once owned a Sam(sung) ES TV just like you.

For your ES7100 you can install the unofficial community app using these instructions.  Basically you will connect to an Emby IP address which Luke maintains and grab it from there

Hey guys,

Any update on this? All of my other tv's and devices have an Emby app but my Samsung TV (MU6300) doesn't have one and it doesn't seem that I'm able to switch the region on the TV to a country that supports it.

Any way around this?

Please see my comments in this thread as it also applies to Canada:

In the meantime though, you can do this:

Thanks Luke, but the install from USB only seems to be for Tizen tvs, will that work with my MU6300? If so perfect, I'll definitely do that.

It looks like a recent model so i would think so.

Nope didn't work Luke. I followed the steps and it recognizes the drive but says "no content found".

What exactly did you do?

Downloaded the zip - put the files on the root of a USB drive 2.0 and plugged it into the USB drive of the TV and then turned it on. You think I'm missing something?

I had the exact same issue with my TV I did a couple days ago.  Turns out the stick was formated with ext4 I think it was. Thought hmmmmm, changed it to fat and then the instructions worked perfectly.

My user manual states "The TV supports the FAT, exFAT, and NTFS file systems" for usb media playback.  I'm going to add something to the instructions to use FAT though since this has come up a couple times now.

Great - yeah the app works super well on my TV. Thanks a bunch for the help.

Any plans to add file descriptions for the TV app? The Emby IOS app has them so it's easy to determine which files are which. Example: Determining between 2 different 4K files, it shows the codecs and files sizes in the description.
