TimFromFL 5
My current setup: 1 VM running emby server with a dedicated graphics card for transcoding and video processing Windows 7 based HTPC with 2 Ceton InfiniTV4 (8 Tuners) connected to living room TVServerWMC installed and proving guide Data and live TV functionality for Emby server SchedulesDirect subscription with epg123 syncing with Media Center to bypass all of the guide data issues that Media center has been having Over the coming holiday, I was planning on moving the HTPC to the computer room and start using an Amazon Firestick on the living room TV to remove some of the HTPC quirks from the mix. While I was planning the move, I started to wonder why am I still keeping the HTPC around. Since emby has LiveTV functionality built in, a more streamlined approach would be to use the built-in rather than having another dedicated system just for LiveTV. Are there any advantages or differences in functionality or capabilities that ServerWMC has over the builtin LiveTV plugin? I should note that I do have a cable subscription but I do not record any Encrypted channels (unless my ISP decides to change what they are encrypting). Does Emby support networked Ceton tuners, or would I have to get HDHR tuners? I have been avoiding that purchase because of the increase in the number of cable cards required. Thanks for any advice you can give, Tim FromFL
Luke 37060
Hi, right now you would have to get HDHR. We hope to be able to expand on our supporter tuner list in the future. Thanks.
xilex 9
You cannot do a manually timed recording in Emby yet (eg 1500-1600). I guess technically you cannot do this inside Emby with either option, but you could head into Windows Media Center and schedule a manual recording and it'll show up inside Emby. Just to confirm, are you saying that I CAN'T go to the guide and select a show and do a single recording only series recording is available? My family is currently in the habit of finding the show that they want on the guide and either make a single one time recording or making a series recording. The other scenario that pops up from time to time is doing a search for a show and marking it as a single recording or a series recording from the search results. If the show shows up in the guide, you can choose to record only that show or the series (just like serverWMC lets you do it like right now). So for your needs, it should be working fine. I'm talking about recording with start/stop times that do not show up in the guide. Some of the independent channels I record from do not have good guide data (or no guide data) so I have to do it manually.
