Getting close to new PC time, any recommendations?

I'm going to start buying parts over the next few months to try my hand at building a new PC. Recommendations would be very helpful, especially regarding the Emby side of things. I'm thinking of going Ryzen and trying AMD for the first time (maybe the 1700x 8core 3.4). Anyway, it's going to be my main, all-in-one machine for light gaming, video/art work, and primarily my Emby server. My initial thoughts are to get a case and MOBO that can house at least 8 internal drives. Currently, I'm using an old dual core with 1x8tb and 3x4tb external drives. This makes for a pretty slow server. I'm thinking of starting the new one with 3x8tb internal drives. Definitely want to go internal, but what are your experiences on the storage end for your server? Is it smart to have the drives in my PC, or should I look into some kind of NAS or NUC (which I currently know nothing about)? My OS will be on an SSD, and I've heard changing some defaults in Emby to an SSD greatly improves speeds. The most important thing on the new PC will be Emby, so I want do do it right.

Edit: Just discovered the hardware forum, very cool. Server racks look amazing, I think I'm doing things wrong :P
